Kathleen Redd Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 27, 2024.
January 9, 1962 – November 24, 2024

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kathy Redd, who left us on November 24, 2024, after a courageous battle with glioblastoma. Born on January 9, 1962, in Endicott, New York, she lived a life filled with love, dedication, and service.

Kathy earned her associate's degree in nursing and later went on to receive her bachelor's from Ohio Northern University. She devoted 30 years of her life as a nurse which she embraced with compassion and unwavering care for others. A highlight of her career was serving as a helicopter flight nurse, a role that showcased her exceptional skill and commitment to helping those in need. Beyond her professional accomplishments, her greatest pride and joy was being a mother to her four sons, a role she cherished above all else.

A valued member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Huntersville, NC, Kathy found strength and peace in her faith and served her community with love and devotion.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, birding, traveling the world with her friends, and sharing moments with her beloved dog, Bailey. Her adventurous spirit, love of nature, and devotion to those she cared for were a source of inspiration to everyone who knew her.

She is survived by the father of her children, Rick Redd, Ryan (son), Taylor (son), Connor (son), Corey (son), Two grandchildren: Parker and Chloe, Scott Howard (brother), Eileen Howard (sister), Will Howard (brother), and Sandra Thorderson (mother).

A memorial service to honor her life will be held on December 14th at 10:00am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 7032 McIlwaine Road, Huntersville, NC 28078. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to The Glioblastoma Foundation (https://glioblastomafoundation.org/) in her memory.

Her kindness, strength, and love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her.

I did not know Kathy for long but she was a great Red Cross volunteer. The kids loved her at her Pedro presentations and she was a well-respected member of our Disaster Health Service team. She will be missed and I am so very sorry for your loss.

When Kathy first moved to Huntersville, I remember her talking about how she loved her boys and dog Bailey. We took a few walks together and had lunch. She truly is a lovely lady and will be missed by those who know her.
