Kathleen Sullivan Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jun. 28 to Jun. 30, 2023.
Kathleen Sullivan, 81, passed away on June 27, 2023, in Alpharetta, GA. She was born on May 18, 1942, in North White Plains, NY to the late Harry and Katherine (Hergenhan) Brown.

Kay, who also went by Kathleen or Kathy, was a loving wife to her husband Ken and a devoted mother to her four children: Jeanne Sullivan-Dobbs (Jim), Patricia Sullivan (Jeff), James Sullivan (Tracy), and John Sullivan (Kristi). She was a proud grandmother to Anne Sullivan-Doyle (Wes), Kyle Dobbs, Kira Dobbs, and John "Jack" Sullivan. Kay was predeceased by her brother, Harry Curtis Brown (Jane).

Kay attended North White Plains Elementary & Valhalla Jr. High School and graduated from White Plains High School. She furthered her education at Westchester Business School. After graduation, Kay worked for Reichhold Chemicals. She later went on to have a fulfilling career in education, working for the White Plains City School District in White Plains, NY, and Alpharetta Elementary School in Alpharetta, GA. In her retirement, Kay enjoyed spending summers with her children and grandchildren in Narragansett, Rhode Island.

Kay was a lover of cats and all Golden Retrievers. Over the years, she adopted many strays and also adopted Golden Retrievers through rescue organizations in Atlanta. Kay was born and raised in the Catholic faith. While living in New York, she worshiped at the Holy Name of Jesus Church in Valhalla.

Dear Ken and the entire Sullivan family, Kay will always be remembered in my thoughts for walking down by our house with her golden retriever and her pleasant smile: but the thing that always sticks in my mind was a day on Scarborough beach I witnessed this good-looking unassuming couple walking along the beach picking up trash. It was not an organized anti litter day, but just an unassuming person doing a good deed without any fanfare. This gesture was indicative of what Kay and Ken are about and for what she will be remembered for. Please accept our deepest condolences at this time.

Kay is a cousin of mine that I never had met. Her maternal grandmother was an O'Neill. That is how we are related. I am sending my condolences and prayers to the Sullivan and Brown families.

I am so sorry to hear this. Thinking of the entire Sullivan family at this sad time. May her memory be a true blessing as you remember the good times.
