Kathleen Vachon Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 4, 2024.
Kathleen E. Vachon, 74, of Hanson, Massachusetts, formerly of Holbrook, Massachusetts, died surrounded by her loving family on November 18, 2024 after a sudden onset of metastatic cancer. Affectionately known as Kathy, she was born to the late Robert and Evelyn (Anderson) Tribou in Quincy, Massachusetts on May 9, 1950.

Kathy graduated from Weymouth High School in 1968. After marrying her devoted husband, Ronald J. Vachon, with whom she shared nearly 55 years of marriage, Kathy embraced motherhood with the birth of their daughter, Susan. It was during these formative years that Kathy discovered her true calling in the field of nursing.

In 1980, Kathy graduated from the Brockton Hospital School of Nursing, embarking on a career that touched countless lives. She began her career at Brockton Hospital working in various units that culminated in the Emergency Department at Brockton Hospital, where her compassion and dedication shone brightly. Kathy's commitment to healthcare extended beyond the hospital walls when she took on the role of School Nurse at Blue Hills Regional Technical School, becoming a trusted figure for students and staff alike.

Kathy's life was a testament to her roles as a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She is survived by her husband, Ronald, of Hanson, daughter and best friend, Susan Hope White and her husband Gregory of Middleborough. Kathy was the devoted Grammie to her grandson, Nathaniel Jacob White, who brought immense joy and pride to her life. She cherished every moment spent with her family.

Kathy is also survived by her sister, Anne Marie Drysdale, who held a special place in her heart, as well as her niece and nephews. Her love for animals was well-known, and she found great joy in gardening, camping, baking, doing crafts and being with family and friends. Kathy will be missed by all who were blessed to have known her. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering support will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the community she served so selflessly.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at Stonebridge Commons Clubhouse, Stonebridge Drive, Hanson. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Apostles Parish St. Joseph the Worker, located at 1 Maquan Street, Hanson, Massachusetts.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Kathy's name to New England Wildlife Center, Weymouth and South Shore Humane Society, reflecting her deep love for animals and her commitment to their welfare. In our hearts we know that she is spending most of her time now exchanging unconditional love with all the animal friends at The Rainbow Bridge.

Kathy Vachon's legacy of love, compassion, and dedication to others will continue to inspire all who knew her. Her memory will forever be cherished, and her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched.

Kathy was the wonderful person who we met through the Drysdale 4th of July parties. She then helped us adopt a loving kitten, whom we still have to this day. My wife and I are extremely sorry for your loss.

Dear Ron and Susan: I am so very sorry to hear of Kathy´s passing.
She was such a wonderful person. I always enjoyed her presence at our Friend´s Luncheons. I was also very appreciative of her help to have a seat ready for my Mother, who was very sick, but was hoping to go to my daughter´s graduation from Blue Hills Regional High School. My daughter was a SADD member which Kathy oversaw. I will never forget her generous, friendly nature. May she rest in peace now in the arms of God. And May God watch over you both, who she loved so much.

Kathy was truly a cat lover and a hero for cats. Her and Ron hosted my first mobile cat clinic that sent me on my way. I am so sorry to hear of her passing. She will always hold a special place in my heart for me and the thousands of cats she has helped.
