Kathleen R. Valenti

Valenti, Kathleen R. TROY Kathleen R. Valenti died on February 11, 2021, at St. Peter's Hospital of COVID-19. She was 86. Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Catherine (JoJo) Oathout. A lifelong resident of Troy, she was a graduate of Catholic Central High School and St. Peter's School of Nursing. Kathleen was a dedicated and compassionate nurse who touched the lives of countless people who benefited from her care during her almost 50-year career at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy. She was named a Nurse of Distinction by the hospital in recognition of her extraordinary service to her patients. She was an active member of St. Joseph's Church in Troy, serving on the board and as a volunteer for the church's community service programs. Kathleen was a voracious reader who enjoyed mysteries, biographies, and books about history, and she was an avid fan of classic movies, figure skating, the New York Times crossword puzzle, and her favorite show, Jeopardy. She was the wife of the late Oneil Valenti. She is survived by her children, Rocco (Carol) Valenti of Conway, S.C.; Clorinda Valenti of Brooklyn, Thomas (Desiree) Valenti of Tampa, Fla., Oneil (Rose) Valenti of Latham, Catherine (Joseph) Kauder of Lafayette, Calif. and Michael (Amy) Valenti of Waterford; grandchildren, Kevin, Dante, Anthony, Isabella, Sophia, Nicholas, Justin, and Sarah; step-grandsons, Robert and Anthony; great-grandson Liam; brother Thomas (Ann) Oathout; sister Pauline Pallozzi (the late David); and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Joseph (Margaret) Oathout and sister Rosemary Oathout. The family extends its gratitude to the nurses and staff at the St. Peter's COVID-19 unit for their care of Kathleen during her difficult final days. The funeral service will be private, with burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
