KATHRYN ALPHAS-RICHLEN Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 27 to Mar. 28, 2023.
ALPHAS-RICHLEN, Kathryn Age 61, of Weston, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family and loved ones on Friday, March 24, 2023. She is survived by her beloved husband, Craig Richlen; and her adored children, Ally Dillaway and her husband, Nelson, and Stephen Richlen. She was the devoted daughter of Dr. Stephen and Alexandra Alphas; and the cherished sister of John Alphas and his wife, Sharon, Susan Bruning and her husband, Kevin, and Peter Alphas and his wife, Rory. She is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends who adored her. Born on December 22, 1961, in Boston, the second of four children, she attended Weston High School and then Boston University where she received her bachelor's degree in business. Kathryn spent the early part of her career in finance and accounting, then worked as a long-time real estate agent for Coldwell Banker in Weston, where she quickly became one of the nation's leading brokers. Kathryn was recognized as one of the top 100 brokers in the United States. Kathryn's career in real estate was richly fulfilling. She loved meeting a family for the first time, learning about them, and creating a lasting relationship. Those who encountered Kathryn quickly went from clients to friends and were welcomed into her life. Beyond her career, Kathryn had the same warm affection for her large extended family as well as her children's friends and their families. She loved to welcome them into her home as though they were her own. A friend's problem was never too small nor too large for Kathryn. She inspired those around her and made them feel special. Kathryn was a lifelong member of the St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Weston. She was also a longtime member of Woodland Golf Club. The Funeral Service will be held at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 57 Brown St., Weston, on Saturday, April 1, at 10 am. Visiting Hours will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral home, 477 Washington St. (Rt.16), WELLESLEY, on Friday, March 31, from 4-8 pm. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment in Linwood Cemetery, Weston. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in memory of Kathryn Richlen, to support renal cancer research and patient care, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West, Brookline, MA 02445. Dear Craig,
This summer I had a memorial for my folks at St Demetrius. I added myself to their mailing.
I saw today that Dr. Alphas passed and then saw the "late " Kathryn..
I am stunned and saddened.
May her memory be eternal my friend.
I am in Jupiter Florida and if you ever want to share your experience please contact me.

Dearest Craig, Ally , Stephen and immediate family.

To say that Kathryn was 1 of a kind is under estimating her true value. She was 1 in a million and then some! So incredibly kind, everyone's cheer leader and her zest and passion for her real estate career was inspirational. I had the honor to be a colleague of Kathryn's well over 20 years. She was legendary in her career, she also made it seem so easy! She also was so quick to get back to you when you asked her , what do you have coming on the market, 5 minutes later she was sharing info with you. Impressive and a true idol to all that knew her. To say she will be missed in the brokerage community is a given. We all be so sad not to see her, to listen to her words of advice and share stories about her family so freely. So very sad she had to suffer the way she did and even on her darkest day she was a champ, so Katherine. I am sure she will be watching over all of you, an Angle has landed in heaven.

Our lives are all connected and intertwined. Our decisions, actions and behaviors have effect and influence on others around us. Kathryn had tremendous reach and influence on almost everyone in this Town wether they knew her or not. And all of it was positive. She was one of the most trusted and astute professionals and friends in my inner circle and everyone around her benefitted by becoming better, smarter, and more caring people. My family and I are forever grateful and indebted for her kindness, guidance, and hard work.
