Kathryn Anne "Katt" Ellis

Kathryn Anne Ellis, born May 28, 1966, died suddenly at age 52 on August 28, 2018. She grew up in Fremont and Hayward, attended Mt. Eden High School, and graduated from Mission San Jose High School in Fremont. She is predeceased by her beloved grandmother, Emily Ellis; her beloved father, Jim Ellis; and her dear niece, Stephanie Lynn Welch. Kathy is survived by her mother, Peggy Ellis; her stepmother, Joan Neitzel; her sister and brother-in-law, Ramona and Joe Sledge; her brother, Vern Nuanez; her stepbrother, Lewis Neitzel; her stepsister, Cynthia Neitzel Beardsley; her niece, Jaclyn Anderson (Andrew); her great-niece, Persephone Anderson; her best friend, Lisa Crawford; and, of course, her beloved cat, Lil Girl. She will be dearly missed by her coworkers at Chef's Express in Castro Village. Katt was a popular bartender in downtown Hayward for many years and shared her generous, compassionate and non-judgmental spirit, her quick wit, and her "no-bullshit here" attitude with many throughout the years. She leaves behind many shocked and heartbroken friends. Katt loved rock and roll, Motown, musicals, live theater, General Hospital, roller coasters, and New York City. Friends and family are welcome to attend the celebration of Kathy's life at the Valley Inn, 2660 Castro Valley Blvd., in Castro Valley, at noon on Saturday, September 22, 2018.
