Martinez, GA—United with Christ on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, Mrs. Kathryn "Kay" Sanders Horney, 64.
Kay is survived by her loving husband, Lynn; daughters, Kimberlyn Gunn (Greg) and Ashlyn Horney; grandchildren, Callan Gunn and Krislyn Gunn; brother, Cecil A. "Sandy" Sanders, Jr.
Kay was preceded in death by her parents, Aiken and Kathryn "Kitty" Sanders and her sister, Mary S. Bowers.
She was proud to be an Augusta native. After a career in banking, she found her passion as a full-time mom to her daughters. Kay's darling husband, her girls, grandkids, and family were her whole world.
"Mama Kay's" passionate and loving spirit, along with her southern hospitality, will always be felt by all who knew her.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, July 22, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church, Augusta, GA. Rev. Scott Hearn, Dr. Kevin Steele, and Rev. John Woods will officiate. Interment will follow in Westover Memorial Park.
Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church, Augusta, GA or National Hills Baptist Church, Augusta, GA.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 21, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors, 214 Davis Rd., Augusta, GA 30907. Please sign the guestbook at www.thomaspoteet.com.

I am so sorry for your loss. I have very fond memories of Kay. We were in the same class at St. Angela Academy. She was our Homecoming Queen and such a sweet girl!

Kimberlyn - I am so sorry to hear about your mom. I remember her being so sweet to Cher for many years and all the help at Cher's wedding. She was definitely Cher's second mama. My sincere condolences. Wanda
