LaMOURE - Donald J. Olson, 73, LaMoure, died March 2, 2007, at his home under Hospice Care surrounded by family. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, at Zoar Lutheran Church, LaMoure. Burial will be held in May at the Holy Rosary Cemetery, LaMoure.

Visitation will be held from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Donald J. Olson was born July 26, 1933, to Anton and Bertha Marie (Olson) Olson at the family farm, southeast of Marion in LaMoure County. He was the youngest of 10 children. Don attended rural schools until the family moved into Marion. His formal education was completed at Marion Public School.

Don worked for area farmers and the NP Railroad until drafted into the U.S. Army, serving from July 9, 1953 to June 3, 1955. He served one year in Korea. Don was a proud soldier and veteran, a 50-year member of Townsend-Good-Shockman Post 19.

After his tour of duty, Don returned home working for the railroad and then the LaMoure County Highway Department. Don married Lydia Pekarski on Aug.10, 1956, at Dickey. They moved to LaMoure where he worked for LaMoure County Highway Department until retiring in 1990 to become a full time Papa (Grandfather).

Don is survived by his wife, Lydia, LaMoure; one son and daughter in-law, Douglas and Carolyn Olson, Wishek; his pride and joy, four grandchildren, Dani Jo and Devin Olson, Wishek, and Melissa and Jake Hibbard, Silver Star, Mont.; one sister, Ardith Bruse, LaMoure; and one aunt, Marion Bartle, LaMoure.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers; four sisters; an infant son, Gregory James; and one daughter, Joni Lynn Hibbard. (Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Wishek)
