Kathryn "Kaye" Daugherty Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 25, 2025.
Kathryn "Kaye" Elaine Daugherty, age 74, passed away on July 15, 2025, in Jupiter, Florida. She was born in Glendale, California to Loretta and Harold Daugherty. Her family later moved to Crystal Lake, Illinois, where she grew up on a farm and graduated from Cary-Grove High School.

Kaye eventually settled in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where she had her daughter. Several years later, she moved to Central Florida and made her home in Leesburg. She devoted herself to caring for her family, including her mother, brother, and daughter. They enjoyed visiting garage sales and collecting antiques together. Kaye was crafty, loved to sew, and often read books from "The Cat Who..." series.

In 2003, she moved to Easley, South Carolina, where she worked in a department store and formed lasting friendships with many of her co-workers. She cherished her "House of Seven Gables," a historic home surrounded by a walnut tree, fig tree, crepe myrtles, azaleas, and cheerful yellow daffodils. Kaye loved spending time on her porch chatting with friends, playing with her cats, and catching up on "Downton Abbey." While in Easley, she became part of the local Kingdom Hall and formed many meaningful connections.

In 2024, she moved to Jupiter, Florida to be closer to her daughter. She quickly formed friendships with her neighbors and occasionally enjoyed afternoon tea. She was warmly welcomed by the local Kingdom Hall, whose members often visited her at home. Kaye found joy in baking cookies and sharing them with her friends.

Her friends and family lovingly shared their memories:

"Kaye was so thoughtful. She would bake for her family but always made extra for others. Her gifts made me laugh. I remember helping her with babysitting her daughter meant the world to her."

"Memories of her still make me chuckle. Kaye was passionate about bands and music from her early teens, buying records and going to concerts."

"She had a great sense of humor and was generous. She always found a way to show hospitality to anyone who visited her."

"We loved everything about her. Such a sweet and caring soul. She gave the best hugs."

"I remember her smile and her humor. She had some great one-liners."

"Kaye always made us laugh! She was loving, caring, and hilarious."

"She had a great sense of humor and a savvy, crafty talent!"

Kaye is survived by her daughter, Polly Daugherty, who is grateful for the time they shared while living together in Jupiter and to all of Kaye's friends and family who enriched her life through the years. She will be deeply missed.
