Abilene - Kathy Ann Booth, 65, of Abilene died March 3, 2025, after a short illness. Memorial service will be held Saturday, March 22, 2025, 2:00 pm at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church Conference Center, 701 South Pioneer, with Rev. Eric McElhaney officiating.

Formerly of Midland, Kathy was born to Tommy George Booth and Myra Neal Lightsey Booth on August 5, 1959, in Orange, California. Kathy graduated from Midland's Robert E Lee High School in 1977. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Texas at the Permian Basin.

Kathy moved to Abilene in 1996 to substitute teach for Abilene ISD. She became an inclusion/resource teacher at Bowie Elementary in 2000. She later joined College Heights Elementary in the Practical Academics and Life Skills classroom (PALS). Kathy has been at Martinez Elementary in the PALS classroom for 3rd-5th grades at Martinez Elementary since Martinez opened in 2012. During her career, Kathy was an active member of the Abilene Chapter of Altrusa International and Mu Chapter 12 of Delta Kappa Gamma for Women Educators. She was a member of Pioneer Drive Baptist Church in Abilene at the time of death.

Kathy was beloved by students because of her dedication to and love for them. She treated each and every student with dignity and could see their gifts and abilities; they responded by rising to her expectations. Kathy was a beautiful soul who loved very deeply, who was gifted in teaching, and who was devoted to the cause of education for all students.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Tommy Booth, Jr., and her sister, Kristy Lynn Booth.

Kathy is survived Aunt Nancy Booth Jones and cousins David Jones and Larry and Arlieta Jones all of Abilene and other extended family.

The family wished to extend heartfelt gratitude to coworkers and friends Benita Reed and Mary Ayers for countless hours of care, her loving principal Mildred Petty and the entire Martinez Elementary family.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to Abilene Public Library, ATTN: Friends of the Library, 202 Cedar, Abilene, TX 79601, or a charity of your choice. And please wear green, Kathy's favorite color, to the memorial.
