Kathy Christopoulos Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 17, 2024.
Kathleen Anne Christopoulos (née Hampilos), born April 20, 1955, in Oak Lawn, IL died peacefully on April 16, 2024 in Athens, Greece after a very sudden decline in her health.

Kathy is preceded in death by her parents, Christine (Mehas) and James Hampilos; her sisters, Carole (Vasilios) Polimenakos and Patricia Katsenis.

Kathy is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Gregorios; sons, Elea (Abby) and Christopher (Tabatha); 3 grandchildren, which she affectionately called her angels; brothers, John and Peter Hampilos; brother-in-law, Chris (Dora) Christopoulos; sister-in-law, Ioanna (Nikita) Varela; friend and cousin, Roula (Dimitris) Christopoulos; and several dear cousins, nieces and nephews.

Kathy's life has centered around family. In adolescence, she grew up working in family restaurants with her sisters; in adulthood, she managed a business with her husband, and in retirement, she became a loving and cherished Yiayia. Kathy has always had a selfless heart, caring for others in their greatest time of need. As her boys grew, their home was always a welcome haven to their friends. She loved dancing, hosting, and holidays.

Kathy and her husband retired to Kalamata, Greece, but she spent several of those years back in the US where she helped care for her grandchildren. Kathy was a beloved friend to many, and leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Kathy will be laid to rest, surrounded by loved ones in Arioxori, Greece on April 19, 2024.
