GREENSBORO - Staff Sgt. Kathy Shuler Mahatha, 56, of Greensboro, NC passed away peacefully at Wesley Long Hospital of Greensboro on Monday, January 7, 2013.
The funeral service will be 12 p.m. Monday, January 14 at Hargett Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery with full military honors.
Kathy attended Guilford College and served in the US Army Reserve for 26 years. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
Survivors include children, Sian Mahatha, Willis Mahatha, Jr., Yasmeen Mahatha, Amber Davis (Will), Anansa Mahatha, and Ashanta Pettiford, all of Greensboro; grandchildren, Dequone Taylor, Malik Jordan, Asher Mahatha, India Mahatha, Ezra Kellam, Naima Kellam, and Triston Mahatha; great-grandson Ja'Marion Jordan; sisters, Rita Hinton (Raymond) and Brenda Berryman (Odell) of Sanford, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home, one hour prior to the service. Hargett Funeral Service is serving the family.
