Kathy Norene Merritt

Kathy Merritt, 76, of Jeffersonville, Indiana passed away peacefully on April 16, 2025, at her home in Jeffersonville, with her family by her side. Born on April 3, 1949, in Clinton, Indiana to the late Jean and Donald Merritt of Terre Haute, Indiana, she grew up in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. Although raised a Buckeye, she was a Hoosier through and through. She and her Father were from the Terre Haute area while her Mom, late brother John and her surviving brother Jerry, were from the Cleveland, Ohio area. She survived by nieces Jennifer Merritt Jordan (Brian) and Diana Merritt, nephews Jeff Merritt (Misty) and Liam Merritt Jordan, 5 great nieces and nephews, and many many aunts, uncles, and cousins throughout Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Pennsylvania and Florida.

She loved to travel, go on adventures with friends, play cards and enjoy time with family and friends. One of her adventures included taking her accounting degree from the University of Toledo and moving to Las Vegas to join Carroll Shelby at Shelby America to help build their Shelby Series 1 sports car. She celebrated all the holidays with ferocious love of crafts and decorating her home inside and out for all the seasons. She lived for, and loved her Louisville Baseball Bats. She and her family shared their season tickets with friends since they were Redbirds out at the Fairgrounds.

She was blessed with many friends over the years, especially those she met at church and at her beloved Bats games. A special thanks to her friends and neighbors at Highland Trace where she lived. She was incredibly caring and giving person who will be missed by so many.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hope Health and Sunshine Foundation (www.hhsfoundation.org/donate-today/) a cancer charity that helps those who are fighting the good fight.

Not a day goes by that I don't think of you and miss you. I'm glad you're not in pain anymore and I will see you when I get over yonder, but dang, it sure hurts on this side of Heaven to not ever see you or talk to you.

Full of guilt and sadness today
A friend of mine has passed away
It was yesterday, or so it seems
We were two little girls, full of dreams
We grew up in the valley
So innocent and sweet
Happy go lucky, never skipping a beat
Two lost little souls, Linda and Kath
Not really knowing our life's path
We stayed in touch throughout the years
But today is full of nothing but tears
She taught me a lesson in life today
Life is too short, so mean what you say
Take the time to stay in touch
That's not really asking much
If I could go back, make more time for my friend
I'd tell her how much she meant til the end
Life gets rough as we get old
Is she really gone? We're not that old
I don't want to accept our friendship has ended
I'll meet you in heaven, our friendship extended

We will miss you forever! The kids are devastated. I´m going to miss you decorating my yard and changing out my holiday flags. We are so grateful to have had such a sweet soul like yours in our lives! Rest easy Miss Kathy
