Kathy and I recently had the most competitive game of Scrabble in my entire life. We filled the board and it got tense! She was super-fun and loved to laugh. Will miss you Kathy.

Kathy and I both volunteered as candy stripers at St Anthony's hospital in Rockford Illinois Kathy had been volunteering for about 2 years when I started and so she trained me. When it came my turn to volunteer on my own without Kathy I was assigned to the cafe and would take orders from the people and then take them there food Kathy told me of a lady that would come in who was deaf and had a hard time speaking and she had built a relationship with this patron and would always help her order her food and then take it to her. So the lady came in while I was working and I looked at her and could kind of figure out she was with Kathy had talked to me about and so I went over and asked her what she wanted to eat and of course she couldn't communicate finally she made a emotion of writing, so I gave her a pencil and she told me what she wanted to eat. Well she was so used to Kathy taking care of her that she became very frustrated and almost left and then I understood her order and was able to get it for her and take it to her. I waited on her several times after that however she made it known that she preferred Kathy and the service she gave instead of me. I told the lady I was Kathy's sister and she looked shocked like how come you didn't take care of me better. When I got off that night I asked Kathy what she did that gained so much favor in this woman's sight and she said I don't know but she's been coming every week since I started volunteering and even though we can't verbally communicate, so we write napkins to each other, sometimes they're about her order and sometimes they were about her life but she's a great lady just treat her with kindness.
I just know that lady loved Kathy . As children we loved to pretend we were from foreign countries.
So we would start talking gibberish...at the store, on the bus, everywhere. Sometimes people would try to help us and we would just continue on. Kathy was fun and lives life well i will miss her so much, she,Pat and Kelly have etched on my heart a love for the word "sister".

Every summer when I was a kid I would anticipate my Aunties arrival,it was like a special holiday,we would count down on the clock the hours until she would arrive with her family,my mom would be so excited I could see her glowing with happiness. She will be loved for eternity.....I miss you KK.

Kathy was always so fun. At our reunions she was the first to get her feet wet, play games with the nieces and nephews, and pose everyone for a fun photo. In her later years she was so patient with her health struggles and did not complain.
