Katie Lyons Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 27 to Jan. 31, 2023.
Northampton Katie (Katherine Elizabeth) Lyons died suddenly on January 20, 2023, at the age of 44. There is no measure to explain the shock and sorrow that her family and friends feel. It is not always true that there is a time and season for everything. It was not time.

Katie loved hard, played hard, and was one of the most loyal people ever known. Outgoing and passionate, her bold presence and light were felt whenever she entered the room.

Katie left her mark on all who knew her, especially those closest to her, and the hurt we all feel will not soon subside.

Katie leaves her son, Nico Mastrangelo of Prague, his father, Anthony, brothers Colin in Massachusetts, and John and his wife, Allyssa in Maine, mother Joan Drujon and her husband, Richard, of Saulgond, France, and father (Daddo) Paul Lyons and his wife, Jane (Mamala), and aunts, uncles and cousins near and far. Her closest circle and those who, over time, became her chosen family, are reeling, too.

The family will have a celebration of Katie's life on February 7th at 2:00 P.M. at St. John's Church in Northampton. A gathering immediately will follow at the Garden House at Look Park in Florence, Massachusetts.

A private service later in the year will be held on Cape Cod where she could always be the mermaid she wanted to be.

Broken hearted with this news. I met with Katie in 2022 looking at real estate. She won my heart. I´d come down from Vt when I was visiting to look at a place just because it was her. I was in awe of her human qualities. I´m so sad.

I live in San Francisco and have been working on transitioning back to the East Coast and I called her today to tell her that I finally started a new remote job and wanted to see about the place on Pomeroy St. A street that she said was near her home. I had said a few times that she was my first new friend in Northampton and that we´d be able to hang out when I bought something there. This is just so sad.

My deepest and sincerest condolences to Daddo and everyone close to her. She told me what a daddy´s girl she was when she´d tell me stories about you Daddo. And she bragged about Nico in Prague! Where May I make a donation for her memory?

Katie met life with exuberance and cared deeply for those she encountered throughout life family,, friends and others. Her passion for life could become contagious when spending time with Katie.
Life had its challenges for Katie (as we all experience) she was ready to take it on every time. I watched Katie help so many without a complaint just took action to help others in need. Katie always made me smile with her enthusiasm. There was one time I was in dire straights there was Katie with open arms willing to help.
This world will miss you Katie your time was cut too short for us. Heaven is welcoming you for sure!

I am going to miss bumping into Katie randomly, yet regularly, and the laughs that always ensued. She was a great friend & neighbor to me in our mutual young motherhood on Myrtle St., our sons born just hours apart. I live in a house that was one of the first purchases she negotiated, and I´ll forever remember those happy days of then, and all the whens our paths crossed on island, in town, and @Joe´s.
