Kay C. Lewis

Inman - Kay C. Lewis, 73, passed peacefully from this life into the loving arms of our Lord on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at RoseCrest Assisted Living. Born July 16, 1947 in Rutherfordton, NC, she was the daughter of the late Louise Matheny Gray and James Edward Greene.

She attended the University of South Carolina in Spartanburg where she earned her Nursing Degree in 1979. She was a dedicated nurse who provided compassionate care to all of her patients. She retired from the SC Department of Health and Environmental Control in 2009.

Being a lifelong caregiver, Kay's favorite pastime was caring for others and helping anyone in need. She loved gardening and cooking, but most of all, spending time with her family and friends. She was also an active member of Cudd Memorial Baptist Church for over 30 years.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 53 years, Tommy Gene Lewis, Sr., and her youngest son, David Scott Lewis.

Kay is survived by her children, Tommy Lewis, Jr. of Spartanburg, SC, Debbie Siderio (Chris) of Powhatan, VA, and Jennifer Halverson (Sam) of Charlotte, NC; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and brother, Roger Greene (Rita) of Westminster, CO.

A Celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Cudd Memorial Baptist Church, followed by a graveside service in Sunset Memorial Gardens, 1955 Cannons Campground Road, Spartanburg, SC 29303. Family will be receiving friends and visitors at Cudd starting at 12:00 pm, before the service.

Memorials may be made to Cudd Memorial Baptist Church, 1301 Boiling Springs Rd., Spartanburg, SC 29303.

Sister, I miss you more than words can describe. We had so many wonderful summer times together and you always welcomed my family into your home with an open heart. The physical world does not seem right with you not here. Someday, I will see you again in heaven. Peace, I love you.

In loving memory of a wonderful person. We will love you and miss you always. Mrs. Lewis had her good day and bad day. But everyday she tried even when her body didn’t want to. She always thought of others. In her last days she was working on decorating pots of flowers to share with other on her hall. She loved and was happiest when she could help others. She would win bingo and not call it so someone who hadn’t won would have a chance to win. She would help others with crafts. Played games and extend herself to help others have fun. She love coming down the Soul Train line. But more than anything she loved God and wanted nothing more than to get to know Him better. Mrs Lewis loved her family and truly tried to bloom where she was planted by helping others. I’ll miss you but so glad your home.

Debbie, Jennifer, and Tommy I am so sorry for the loss of your mom. I know she was a wonderful mother. She sure was a great friend to me. I know it how hard this is for you because I just lost my mom too. I just have to pray a lot and trust God that I will see her again, all in His perfect timing. Hold tight to the memories and to each other and if I can help in any way, just let me know.

Kaye was a friend of my mother's, Peggy, during her time at Rosecrest. She was always very kind to mom and would check in on her. Mom will miss her. You have my deepest sympathies.

Kay was certainly a very nice lady. Kay was in the room next to my sister, Lois. Kay was always a lady that expressed care and concern for others. I always enjoyed seeing and talking to her. She really helped my sister, by expressing concern and by being helpful. Kay really has a nice family. I wanted to express my condolences to all of her family. May she rest in peace.
