As her eldest daughter’s best friend, Kay became my mother too. We spoke, laughed and reminisced about home. The thought of Kay not being around any longer hurts but fortunately I read my Bible – I know that death is not the end. Plumpy Sisi and Mantu –be comforted by that thought. Butchy, Sheerifa and Rashid hold on to your mother, she is a very strong and godly woman; Neo I hope to meet you too.

Grandma was an inspiration to all her family, both herein England and back home in South Africa. Trailblazing as she did and spreading roots all over the globe, Grandma Kai’s lasting legacy was to illuminate our hearts and minds with love and imagination. My Grandma created a garden where the fruits have ripened and the songbirds sing, where the whole family has been cultivated and encouraged to spread their own roots, to keep planting our seeds in order for the family to thrive and grow in her loving and lasting memory.
Grandma, you have all the fruits your deserve and it comforts us to think of you now, calm and content and eating as much plump, sweet and gorgeous fruit as you like.
We love you and we weep in your absence,
Sheerifa and Rashid your loving grandchildren

Kay, you will be missed greatly by many people. I am happy to have been able to know you and that you were a part of my life. I enjoyed every visit I had with you. You always had the most interesting stores to tell and I loved hearing them.
You were an amazing, warm-hearted lady and opened my eyes to many things. Thanks for that. I regret that I didn’t have a chance to see you over the past 4 years because I didn’t know where you were or how to reach you. You were always in my thoughts though. Thanks for your friendship and all that you have brought to my life. Rest in Peace, Kay…Love Always, Beth Pederson. I send my condolences to your children and your extended family. Sincerely, Beth Pederson. My mother, Janet Lavoie also sends her sympathies to Kay’s family.
