Kayla Russo Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 15, 2024.
Kayla Renée Russo, aged 30, passed away on July 26, 2024, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Born on May 14, 1994, in Fayetteville, North Carolina, Kayla was known for her vibrant spirit and a profound love for the outdoors.

From a young age, Kayla was deeply involved in nature and animal care. She raised and showed prize-winning chickens, nurtured rabbits, and participated in dog shows, developing a lifelong passion for animals and the environment. As an adult, she embraced hiking in her home state of Colorado, often exploring the scenic trails and parks around her.

She leaves behind a loving family: her daughter, Amethyst Roberts; father, Thomas Russo; step-mother, Jennifer Russo; grandmother, Marlen Ott; siblings, Kyle, Ashlynn, T'andra, and Zarianna Russo; and her significant other, Keith Gentry. Kayla's passion for nature and her kind, free-spirited personality will be dearly missed and forever cherished by her family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, October 5th from Noon-3pm at the Fountain Creek Nature Center, 320 Peppergrass Ln, Fountain, CO 80817.

In lieu of flowers, please consider planting a tree through the Sympathy Store.

I never had the pleasure of meeting you, yet my grief is profound. Your dad has told me so many stories about you from your childhood days raising chickens, your love of frogs, your common love of hiking together, and so many more. I'm sure if we had the chance to meet, you would know I love you just as I love all your sisters and brother. I'm sorry you struggled so much in your 30 years of life. I'm thankful you are finally at peace and I know I'll get to meet you one day soon.

All the time she was my sister and we spent so much time together after I went to Denver to go get her. I´m sorry but she was always so happy and laughing even through the bad times. I never knew how she did it but she did. Thank you for everyone that has posted something. I´m gonna be doing a balloon release sometime I´ll let everyone know when and where I would love to have y´all come.

Every moment with my sister was a special one. There was not a time that we hung out and we were not laughing or smiling with each other. But I could have and should have made more memories with her then I did. She was my blood sister and I didn´t know her that long only about ten years because of are parents. I miss her so much I´m lost with out her.

So many memories with you, I can't pick just one.

You were the first person to see me, not just as a dude but as a human being. You saw right through me; Through the male bravado and raging hormones.

We spent COUNTLESS nights where you would try to stay awake longer than me and you lost every time!

I remember riding the city bus with our unlimited bus passes pretty much every summer (had to get our money's worth, right?)

You brought out a side of me I didn't even know existed and for that, I thank you.

You were in fact the very first woman that I loved, the first real female connection I had ever experienced and although our paths went seperate ways you managed to stay in contact throughout the years.

I wish you had the opportunity to meet my kiddos! They need that dose of Kayla craziness you brought with you, you know the kind that brings out your fearlessness and all the smiles.

In all seriousness though, Kayla, you will be missed. Love you always.

In another life I suppose.

After school Kayla (LaLa) rode home with me. I had my license for about 6 months at this point. There was construction and being the goofball I was I decided to drive through the closed road. I got my first ticket then. I was crying and so upset. Kayla laughed so hard at my ridiculous air headedness. She never let me live it down either. She was always so good at helping others see the glass as half full.
