Keary Bailey Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 3, 2023.
In Loving Memory of Keary Dayne Bailey

Keary Bailey, a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, and coach, was born on April 20, 1955, in Levelland, Texas, to proud parents Bill and Lilly Bailey. He passed away on August 26, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of passion, dedication, and love.

From an early age, Keary displayed an innate talent for sports. He excelled in various athletic endeavors and was a natural athlete, shining on the football and baseball fields during his high school years. In college, he continued to showcase his prowess as a shortstop and second baseman on the baseball diamond. However, Keary's contributions to sports extended beyond his playing days, as he dedicated many years to coaching girls' fast-pitch softball, mentoring and inspiring young athletes to reach their full potential.

Keary's love for sports extended beyond his own pursuits. He lived for the joy of watching his children excel in their chosen sports, reveling in their victories and offering unwavering support through every game and competition.

In addition to his passion for sports, Keary had an equally profound love for music. His encyclopedic knowledge of songs, artists, and the years they were released amazed all who knew him. He had an uncanny ability to identify any song, making him the go-to person for any music-related questions or discussions.

In 1978 Keary married his childhood sweetheart, Debra Fietz. They have four beautiful children together, Dayna, Kandice, Parker, and Ryan.

Above all else, Keary cherished his role as a loving grandfather. His grandchildren, Agent, Lilly, Maddie, Eva, and Hazel, held a special place in his heart, and he doted on them with an immeasurable amount of love and affection. His time spent with them was filled with laughter, stories, and unforgettable moments that will be treasured by his family for generations to come.

Keary Bailey's warm smile, sense of humor, and unwavering love for his family have left an incredible mark on all who were fortunate enough to know him. He will be dearly missed but forever remembered as a source of inspiration and joy.

Keary is survived by his loving wife, four children, five grandchildren, his sister Shari Raye Kolb, and a host of relatives and friends who will carry his memory in their hearts. He is preceded in death by his sister Lorry Jeye Bailey and his parents Bill Bailey and Lillian Lay Akui Bailey.

A memorial service to celebrate Keary's life will be held on Friday October 6, 2023 at the Smith Family Chapel at Riverbend Church in Austin, TX. The family kindly requests donations to the Texas ALS Association in his honor.

May Keary rest in peace, surrounded by the love of those who cherished him.

Debbie, Shari, and family, we are so sorry for the loss of your sweet Keary! Boy do we have lots of wonderful memories of our way cool older cousin at Bailey get-togethers all those decades ago. We always loved his quick wit and deadpan delivery! And what a gracious and kind role model for all of us baby Baileys. Please know we cherish those memories and send you our love and sincere condolences.

We have MANY wonderful memories of Keary, because we are his Uncle and Aunt. He was a precious toddler when Valeta met him, not yet 2 years old. We watched him grow into an active child, participating in sports, doing well in school, etc. We always enjoyed spending what time we could with him and his family, both his birth family and the family he and Debbie had.
Our sympathy to Debbie, kids and grandkids and extended family.
