Keith Wilcock Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 26, 2025.
Keith Dickson Wilcock passed away on June 2, 2025 in Deephaven, Minnesota. He was 88.

Keith was born in Cowley, Wyoming to Vernile and Ola Wilcock on March 25, 1937. He grew up in a Mormon family in Salt Lake City, Utah.

He had an early talent for art which he developed throughout his lifetime. He met and married the love of his life, Judith Carter, in 1957. Children soon followed. He had 3 sons, Scott, Corey and Joe.

Keith graduated with a degree in psychology from the University of Utah. In the next few years he found work as an industrial psychologist and moved with his young family to Jamestown, North Dakota; Cleveland, Ohio; Chicago, Illinois; and finally Minneapolis, MN. He worked as a consultant at International Multifoods, formed his own business Wilcock Associates, then finished out his career as a vice president at Personnel Decisions Inc. In 1997 Keith opened The Wilcock Gallery, a space where he formed friendships with many different artists and showcased his own paintings. The gallery operated for several years in downtown Minneapolis before moving to Excelsior, MN.

Keith was also a writer. He authored 3 books: Deathrow Dreamers, a novel; and 2 books about tribal relationships in modern corporations: The Corporate Tribe and Hunters and Gatherers. He was invited to speak about The Corporate Tribe several times since its publication, including one speaking engagement on the great wall of China.

He traveled all over the world with Judy. Highlights of his adventures include month long painting trips with friends in France, sailing around Cape Horn, and spending time in Mexico.

In 2015 Keith closed the gallery and sold his house on Lake Minnetonka, then successfully underwent open heart surgery. For the next 5 years, he was the primary caregiver to Judy, who passed from Alzheimer's in 2020. He spent the last 5 years of his life peacefully at home where he continued to paint and promote art.

A private memorial service for close friends and family will be held at a later date.

I am Keith's cousin, Karen Jensen Madsen. My mother, Berniece, is his mother's (Ola) sister. Keith was two years older than I. We were together for family gatherings. When he was a senior at East High School, I was a sophomore. He lined me up with a date to attend one of the dances. We attended together as a foursome. Keith had many traits that I found appealing and admirable.

I send my sympathy to his family. May God grant you a sense of peace and comfort. May you find comfort in knowing that I care about your loss. My prayers are with you. ~Cousin Karen~

This is Keith´s younger cousin and my wife Vangie. Keith changed my life when I was still in school trying to figure out my career. He counseled me and steered me in the right direction. We spent many hours together. He painted while I played guitar. Vangie and I love him so very much; and Judy also. We send our heartfelt condolences to Scott, Corey and Joe.
