Keith Young Obituary
He was born March 5, 1968, in Gowanda, the son of Thomas G. and Sandra Lee Ayrhart Young, who survive. In 1999, he married the former Colleen Cullen, who survives. Mr. Young was a 1988 graduate of Cattaraugus Central School. He attended SUNY Cortland, where he graduated in 1992 with a bachelor's degree in physical education. He graduated in 2002 with his master's degree in education from St. Bonaventure University.
He had been a physical education teacher at West Valley Central School since 1996 and was very active with coaching. He was the head varsity football coach in West Valley, the assistant varsity football coach at Ellicottville and most recently an assistant varsity football coach at Cattaraugus. He was selected by the Big 30 Committee to coach in its annual charity football game. He was voted Cattaraugus County Coach of the Year for track and field while at West Valley Central.
Mr. Young was a life member of the NRA. He was also a member of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Cattaraugus, NYSUT Teachers Association, Cattaraugus Fireman's Club, Little Valley American Legion Post 531, Skyline Pool and NYSSA Snow Bounders. He was also an avid outdoorsman.
Besides his parents and loving wife of 16 years, he is survived by his two sons, Jason and Matthew Young; a sister, Kimberly (Rick) Hintz of East Otto; and aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and friends.
He was predeceased by his grandparents.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Mentley Funeral Home Inc., 411 Rock City St., Little Valley. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 12, 2015) at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church in Cattaraugus with the Rev. Joseph Porpiglia officiating. Burial will be in Liberty Park Cemetery in Cattaraugus.

Words cannot express the sadness of losing Keith. He was a great man that left this world far too soon. Keith will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends, but not forgotten. Deepest condolences to Colleen, his two wonderful sons, Tom, Sandy, Kim and all those who knew and loved Keith.

Keith was one of the best people I ever worked with and was a true friend of mine at WVCS. As his AD, I always knew that he would get the job done and done the right way. I will really miss him. He was always one of my favorites at school. RIP good friend.
