David Wayne Parr left the struggles of this earth unexpectedly on July 2, 2017, after a week long battle with a serious infection. He is now at peace with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and sharing his gift of song, contagious laughter and safety concerns with the angels.
David grew up in Pasadena, Texas, and entertained many throughout his life with his beautiful singing and guitar playing. He believed that many of the songs he wrote and performed during his lifetime strengthened his faith and drew him closer to his heavenly Father. He was happiest when surrounded by his family, close friends and his two loving pups. David is survived by his devoted wife, Lani, his daughter and pride and joy, McKenna, his beloved mother, Bonnie Parr and his sister and brother-in-law, Denise and Rick Evans of Bellville, TX.
A small, private memorial service was held at Niday Fairmont on July 8, 2017, where his songs were played in his memory. He was dearly loved and will be sorely missed, until we meet again.
In lieu of flowers, family and friends have established a college fund to assist his daughter, McKenna, as she begins her senior year at Trinity University:
JSC Federal Credit Union, P. O. Box 58346, Houston, Texas 77258. Payee: McKenna Parr College Fund #1151205

Still missing you, Every. Single. Day. So glad you are with our Savior, as I can just hear your daily commentary on the state of our country right now.. I didn´t really know how much of a best friend you were to me, but you were my person. The emptiness never goes away. I will love you forever.

I was blessed to have known David as a friend for many years. Some time had passed but I was able to work with him for a part of last year. I admired all of those wonderful qualities that made him the special person that he was. His intelligence, wit, charm, and a caring heart that made him the man he had become. David you will be missed, but your beautiful voice can now sing with the angels. In friendship and faith.

I knew you briefly at Creekmont Baptist Church through your sister, Denise. Loved your music. You are now singing in the greatest choir ever.

I've never met a more gentle or kinder man. Thank you for the wisdom you shared with me during our times together. It was a privelage to call you my friend and I'll miss you.

People say the two things you can never talk about without fighting and getting mad, is politics and religion. David and I rarely spoke without discussing one or both of these things. Even since we lost him, I have already caught myself seeing something in the scriptures or on the news and thinking, I need to call David. He was my only friend that I could literally tell anything to. We were that way since we met about 35 years ago. The last conversation we had, just weeks ago, was about Christ and the end times. Neither of us knew then, as well as we do now, how precious time is. Time spent talking with those we love. I've never had a better friend. I'm happy that he is with the Savior now.

David Parr, one word to describe him "Extronidary" Parr always had a way to make you smile, with his silly songs, infectious smile and his great big ol heart. I've know Parr since Jr. High where he kept everyone in stitches being "the funny joker" that we all knew and loved. I have the privilege of having one of the cassettes he made with his music, singing and playing the gutair that he loved so much and I will treasure it. I know for certain he loved the Lord and his family meant the world to him. Lani and McKenna know that he is looking down with that big ol smile saying I'll always be watching over you until we meet again.

Was so hoping we had a few more chapters left.. We miss you, every day. I'm certain it was no accident that the first song I heard in my car, heading home alone was '..my chains are gone, I've been set free. My Lord and Savior has rescued me..' I love you.
