SUMMERFIELD — Mr. Kelly Herbert Epperly, 75, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 18, 2011.
Mr. Epperly's funeral will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, February 21, at Liberty Wesleyan Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
A native of Patrick Springs, Va., Mr. Epperly was born on December 12, 1935. He was a wonderful husband, father, and great friend. His passing is a great loss to all who knew him. He was a strong, yet quiet man and will be missed by all who knew him. His memory will live on in our hearts. He loved his family and community as well as Blue Grass music, gardening, and taking trips with his daughter, Beth.
Mr. Epperly was a graduate of Patrick County High School, and received an Associate's Degree from Guilford College. He worked for the Martinsville Police Department and the Greensboro Police Department, retiring with 24 years service. He was a proud US Army veteran, serving as an MP from 1955-1958.
Surviving are his wife, Bessie Turner Epperly of the home, daughter Beth Epperly of Stokesdale, three grandchildren Kelly Epperly, Katie Epperly, and Kyle Epperly, brother William Epperly (Polly) of Patrick Springs, VA., and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Greg Epperly.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Liberty Wesleyan Church.

I worked with Kelly the years that he was with the Greensboro Police Department. He was a good officer and a fine man. He will be missed and I will keep the family in prayer.

I worked many years with Kelly at the GPD. He was quite, humerous and well liked. Although I rarely saw Kelly after he retired I considered him a good friend who will be missed. Charlie Allen
