Kelly Surette Muir
Dover, NH -- Kelly Surette Muir, 39 died unexpectedly Saturday March 14, 2021 in Daytona Beach, Florida as a result of an automobile accident.
She was born September 17, 1981 in Salem, Massachusetts the daughter of Richard and Dorothy (Casey) Surette.
Kelly is survived by her husband of 12 years, Dan Muir and her 4 young children, Annabel, Jamison, Wallace, and Finley. Her brother Brian, and her sister, Tara and her husband David, and her sister Meghan. Her father Richard, his wife DJ, and her nephew Dillon.
Kelly was an amazing woman and a wonderful mother, an extremely talented tattoo artist and businesswoman, and a member of the Newmarket Polish Club.
As a mother, Kelly was as caring and loving as they come. Kelly loved all her babies. These children never went without. Kelly loved spending time with her kids. She would always look forward to the summertime where she would put them all into the minivan, with water toys, noodles, floaties, yummy treats to grill over the fire, and drive them all up to Lake Wentworth in Wolfboro, New Hampshire. She loved it there. There the kids would play in the sand and water and Kelly would enjoy the sun and some refreshment. Kelly would always say that the smell would remind her of our childhood and our camp in Derry, New Hampshire. That was the kind of Mother Kelly was. She would always want to share her favorite things about her childhood with her kids. Some of these things included Clarks Bears in Lincoln, NH and StoryLand in Glen, NH. Whether it was the reaction to ring of the ice cream truck passing by or bringing the gang to the fall fairgrounds. She was always enjoying her children. She will be missed.
Kelly’s true passion was tattooing, and Kelly worked hard to be the talented tattoo artist and businesswomen she was up until the day she left us. Kelly started at the bottom of a traditionally male dominated trade in the early 2000’s as a tattoo apprentice at Lightwave Tattoo in Saugus, Massachusetts and honed her skill tattooing at New Hampshire’s oldest tattoo shop, Jim’s Tattoo in Seabrook, NH.
Kelly and her business partner Tegan opened 5 Monkey Tattoo in Newmarket in 2016. Kelly became a rock start and a local legend in the tattoo community. People traveled long and far to get their tattoo done by Kelly at 5 Monkey’s. Their Friday the 13th event is legendary. If you have ever had the pleasure to witness this, you would know that there are hundreds of people lined up down Main St in Newmarket from before opening hours to way after closing time. Also, it is obvious that Kelly is adored by so many people and it is evident from the outpouring of love and support on various social media pages.
A celebration of Kelly’s life will be held Saturday April 3, 2021 at The Stone Church, 5 Granite St. in Newmarket, NH from 1PM-3PM.
