Kelsey Elayna Perkins Jean Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 9, 2024.
Kelsey Elayna Jean (née Perkins Griffith), a beloved wife, mother, daughter, and friend, was called to begin her next journey on the morning of December 5, 2024. Born on January 5, 1994, in Opelika, Alabama, Kelsey was a beacon of light and love to all who knew her.

Kelsey embraced life with a spirit of adventure, traveling to new places with her cherished family. She found joy in nature, running, hiking, yoga, journaling, baking, and road trips. Her dedication to her family was unparalleled, and she took immense pride in being a devoted mother and loving wife. Her passion for animals was evident in her work as a fear-free veterinary technician, where she was known for her compassion and kindness.

Kelsey is survived by her husband of nine years, Michael Jean, and their two children, Harper Evelyn and Michael Robert Jr. She leaves behind her mother, Kelley Griffith, and her partner Raymond of Phenix City, Alabama; her father, Greg Griffith, and his wife Sherry of Dadeville, Alabama; and her sister, Brittany Griffith, and her partner Tyler Muniz of Auburn, Alabama. Her lifelong friend, Nakita Crabb of Opelika, Alabama, also mourns her loss.

Kelsey is also survived by her father-in-law, Robert Jean Jr., and his wife Rhonda of Dublin, New Hampshire; her siblings-in-law, Cole Jean of Jaffrey, New Hampshire, Kelsey Jean Bellino and her husband Pat of Milford, New Hampshire, Ashley Burdin of Keene, New Hampshire, and Nick Burdin of Jaffrey, New Hampshire. Her mother-in-law, Barbara (RainLovekin) Koenig, formerly of Massachusetts and currently of North Carolina, also survives her. Additionally, she is remembered by her uncle and aunt, David and Samantha Hendricks of Enterprise, Alabama, and their children, Everly and Jenna Grace, along with numerous extended family members, friends, and colleagues.

Kelsey's radiant spirit and loving nature will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

I remember the day we were cooking for a solstice family party. I was learning how to make humus and you were baking cookies. We were laughing, singing, and dancing to music. I just remember us saying "oh this would be good". They were a big hit at the party. To this day we have yet to figure out or remember what all we put in them.

I loved cooking with you, family game nights, hiking with you, dancing and singing with you, watching you and your family grow, sharing our dreams with each other, and your hugs.

Kelsey, you gave me the best friendship in such a short time. You taught me to be strong, confident, and that some people are sent here to spread so much JOY no matter what. My first special needs mom friend and the best kind of true friend. You are so missed and loved big. I think I´ll spend forever trying to match the tiniest bit of your light.

Our first date, your first motorcycle ride in almost a decade and a walk to your favorite place in Chewacla, was the day I knew I would marry you. I love you.
