Ken "Tex" Moore Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 23, 2023.
Age 56, died peacefully surrounded by friends and family on September 21, 2023 at his home in Amarillo, Texas after surviving cancer for 525 days.

Ken was born on December 30, 1966 in Slaton, Texas to Kenneth and Harriett Moore. He graduated from Denbigh High School in Newport News, VA and went on to have a lifelong career in the welding supplies industry. Ken worked for many companies throughout his life but his coworkers at B&J Welding Supply of Lubbock, Texas were his longtime work family until his death. Ken enjoyed his last remaining days on this Earth with friends and family, and was honored at the Sod Poodles playoff game by getting to throw the first pitch by proxy through his brother in law Jason English two days before he passed.

Ken was happily married to Tiffany Moore who was his partner in life for 11 years before his passing. Ken was a devoted stepfather to Adam and father to Samuel. Ken first had the opportunity to become a father when he and Tiffany started dating when he was 46. Then he had his lifelong dream of being a father to his own child come true when Samuel was born in 2017, at the age of 50. Ken was SuperDad to both boys while he was alive and his legacy will live on through them. Ken also had the pleasure of knowing that he would be a PawPaw to his first grandbaby that is due April, 2024 to son Adam and his girlfriend Kingsley.

Ken enjoyed many things during his life including riding motorcycles, camping, traveling, and watching races. He made many memories enjoying those hobbies with his friends and family during his lifetime. He never let cancer keep him from participating in any of his favorite things and fought through the side effects and pain to enjoy his remaining time.

Ken was as stubborn as a mule until the very end. He fought cancer with every ounce of energy he had and never gave up. His courageous fight will be a testimony to many who are also going through the same thing for many years to come.

Ken is preceded in death by grandparents Rufus & Lillian Moore of Slaton, Texas, Kirby & Evelyn Dunlap of Slaton, TX, and father Kenneth Moore of Slaton, Texas.

Ken is survived by his wife Tiffany Moore, sons Adam and Samuel, his unborn grandchild, mother Harriett Moore, sisters Casey English and husband Jason and Donna Graves and husband Jerry, niece Mckenzie English and fiancé Cody Sauer, nephews JD Graves, Travis Graves and wife Stevie, and Zach English, great nieces Madelyn, Paige, Paityn, Emma, Kinsley and Scarlett and great nephew Trevin and Lane.

Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service for Ken on Friday September 29, 2023 at 11am at Bible Baptist Church in Slaton, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the 24 Hours in the Canyon Cancer Survivorship Center in Amarillo, Texas. 24 Hours in the Canyon was a much needed resource for Ken, Tiffany, and kids during his long battle with cancer. https://24hoursinthecanyon.org/

I´m so very sorry to hear this about Tex. I am so sorry I didn´t realize he had passed until now. He was a great friend to me when I needed one and could always make me laugh. He was a great man and friend and from afar it looked like he was a great husband and father as well. Prayers for you all.

I worked with Ken for many years. He had a passion for children and was involved with BACA and was an advocate for abused children.

This is so heartbreaking. I´m so happy that he found his true love Tiffany and together they were able to fulfill his dream of having a child. My family and I will be praying for Tiffany, Samuel and Adam. He was a wonderful man. Fly high my forever friend.

I questioned the age difference when they met, but after meeting and seeing the way Ken treated Tiffany warmed my heart and I instantly knew they were made for each other. Tanya and I loved this man!!
