Kenneth Cote Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 20, 2017.
Kenneth B. Cote, 62, of Auburn, lost his hard fought battle to cancer under the diligent care of staff at The Hospice House on Tuesday April 18, 2017. He was born August 11, 1954 in Lewiston to the late Adrian B. Cote and Marie Marquis Dow. Ken married the love of his life, Diane Godbout on May 15, 1981. A lifelong resident of Lewiston-Auburn, Ken worked in shoe factories in his younger years and then worked for the City of Lewiston Janitorial services at The Lewiston Police Department followed by Lewiston Public Works Road Crew. After many years of hard work , he received his High School Diploma at Edward Little High School in 2005. Ken enjoyed time with family, especially Sundays at Sebago Lake and family reunions during the summer time and during the Holidays. At every moment he had, he would strike up a conversation and share stories of current events as he saw them, or stories of fellow family members, with a strong sense of humor and desire to make people feel welcome and happy. Ken always extended his heart to those around him and was happy to help in the best way he could. Although Ken was unable to serve in the military, he developed a deep passion for the U.S. Navy's Blue Angels. Ken was a collector of everything Blue Angels and their appearances at local air shows were a highlight every year. Ken's dream of visiting the home of the Blue Angels in Pensacola, Florida, came true in November of 2015. Ken's first ride on an airplane allowed him to fulfill this life long dream. Ken was a proud Member of The 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Council 106 and Honor Guards.

Ken is survived by the love of his life and best friend of 35 years, Diane (Godbout) Cote, a son: Shawn Cote and wife Tiffany, a daughter: Danielle Cote, a sister: Constance Kaherl and husband Everett, two brothers: Michael Cote and wife Sonia, Frank "Butch" Dow and wife Lisa, his sisters-in-law: Suzanne Godbout and Claire Patterson, several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and a vey special granddaughter Mia Cote.
He is predeceased by his mother Marie Cote-Dow, father: Adrian B. Cote , his mother and father in laws Lucies and Juliette Godbout and many aunts and uncles.

A very special thank you to the nurses in the Oncology Department at St. Mary's Hospital, as well as the wonderful and caring staff at the Hospice House. I am sending my sincere condolences to the family. May you find comfort in this thought found at Isaiah 61:1,2 which reads in part" God sent his son to bind up the brokenhearted and to comfort those who mourn."

Diane & family,
Our deepest sympathy from the men & women of Lewiston Public Works. Ken was a steadfast and loyal employee right up to the day of his retirement and visited us frequently since then. We hope the "PW line up" on Deer Road for the funeral procession was an indication of what we thought of Ken. May god bless you and him.

One of my fond memories of Kenny was the day of his graduation and him asking if his Aunt Ann and I could possibly come from Bangor for that special day. We both were so proud of his accomplishments in getting his degree and I know that Aunt Teddy (his mom) was looking down and smiling on him also. Kenny we will miss you my little cousin, please say hi to your mom and my mom and dad. love Sandy and Bob.
