Kenneth David Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 1, 2024.
Kenneth "Ken" Randolph David, also known as Butch, passed away on January 6, 2024 at the age of 74, in Stanwood, WA. Born on August 14, 1949, in Fort Smith, AR and later raised in Belle Plaine, KS, Ken was a beloved individual who touched the lives of many.

Ken was a fun-loving and generous soul, known for his larger-than-life personality. He had a knack for entertaining and was the life of every party he attended. His infectious laugh and captivating stories will be sorely missed by his family and friends, especially his best friend of 50 years, Steve Fawcett.

In addition to his vibrant personality, Ken had a deep passion for his hobbies. He adored fishing, camping, boating, and many sports. As "Coach Ken" he shared his love of football, softball, and baseball with many of the youth of Stanwood over the years.

Ken proudly served his country as a "Sky Soldier" in the 173rd Airborne Brigade of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. From 1969 to 1971 he fearlessly pursued his duties, and his dedication earned him the rank of Sergeant. Ken's military service was marked by bravery and commitment, and he was honored with several awards including the Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal, and Air Medal.

Ken is survived by his wife Valerie David, brother William "Dub" Bonner, sister Toni Thompson, daughter Rachel (Mike) Thompson, son Robert (Elisa) David, and his cherished grandchildren Liam, Marcus, Ryder, Delilah, Casey, Savanna, and Justin. He was preceded in death by his father Kenneth David, mother Agnes Rachel Davis, and stepfather Bill Davis, Jr.

In memory of Ken's life and his battles against cancer, the family suggests that in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to your local cancer center or local Veterans center. These organizations were close to his heart, and any support would be greatly appreciated.

Ken's vibrant spirit and zest for life will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of laughter, generosity, and love will continue to live on in the hearts of his loved ones.

When we were in Belle Plaine high school parking lot, I accidentally hit his fragile, darling little Corvair with my mammoth Dodge DeSoto. Butch was so mad, there was steam coming out of his ears. I of course apologized profusely and if I remember correctly, had it repaired.
