Kenneth Decker Jr. Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 21, 2024.
Kenneth Ray "Kenny" Decker Jr., aged 25, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed into eternal rest on April 15, 2024. Born on September 26, 1998, in the same city, Kenny's vivacious spirit and boundless generosity became his hallmark throughout his all-too-brief journey among us.

Those who had the privilege to encounter Kenny knew him as the quintessence of a 'Funcle'-fun and caring in equal measure, always eager to elicit a smile or share a hearty laugh. His innate ability to brighten any gathering will be profoundly missed by all.

Kenny leaves behind a loving family: his grandmother Lynda Rengers, his mother, Amy Higdon; his father, Kenneth Decker Sr.; his siblings, James Higdon, Courtney Castle (Higdon) alongside her spouse Miranda Castle, Kyler Higdon with his spouse Kaitlyn Higdon, Marissa Ludwick, and Jessalyn Hardy (Guess) with her husband Christopher Hardy. He will also be fondly remembered by his uncles and aunts, Patrick Rengers, Larry Decker, Jeff Barrett, Valerie Hazelip, and Charlotte Barrett; as well as his cherished cousins, Chassidy Rengers, Dustin Rengers, Brandie Thomas, Shawn Thomas, Nicholas Daugherty, Charles Decker, Michelle Decker, Michael Decker, Bryce Barrett, and Amber Barrett.

Kenny was preceded in passing by his beloved grandfather, Michael Rengers; grandmother, Bonnie Decker; aunt, Jackie Thomas; and cousins, Austin Rengers, Devin Williams, and Troy Lewis

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Newcomer Funeral Home for their compassionate assistance during this difficult time.

Services to commemorate Kenny's life will be conducted at Newcomer Funeral Home, Louisville, Kentucky on Wednesday, April 24th from 2-8 pm. The family invites you to join them in honoring his memory and celebrating the joy he brought into this world.

I will always remember you as the sweet, goofy 13 year old that became really good friends, best friends with my oldest son Jordan O'Daniel and you was another "little brother" to him and another "big brother" to Alex Moeloa (Jordan's little brother and my youngest son) and that made you, mine and Tracy Scott Blue's, "adopted son" and you lived with a lot over the years. Hell who am supposed to debate the reasons why I should be a Slytherin (like you was) instead of a Gryffindor (that was me) nobody else I know knows as much as you did about Harry Potter but me. You and I could discuss the books and movies for hours and Jordan and Tracy and Alex all thought we were crazy but I really enjoyed having that in common besides Jordan and Alex as your "brothers" and my boys. Damn, this really, really hurts. If you see my daddy please tell him I love him and miss him. I love and miss you "son" RIP Kenny Decker, Jr. "my/our adopted son"

I used to work with him at Taco Bell and even after he quit he´d come back up and visit and was always glad to see me and it was the same vise versa. Back then I was a teenager and he always had my back and stood up for me. I´m glad I had those experiences with him and that I got to see him smile many times at my lame teenager jokes at the bell. He´s missed and loved and my condolences to Courtney and his family and those close to him. He was definitely something special and gone way too soon. And to Kenny thank you for always having my back, I´m glad I got to know you even if it was for a short time.
