Kitty, Children and Grandkids,
So many cherished memories of time spent sharing coffee at the family home on Larchmont. There was always some project going on and plenty to do, but Ken and Kitty would always stop what they were doing to sit and visit.
Ken really touched the lives of so many people. People who went on to live much better lives due in large part to his support and counsel.
His great legacy was demonstrated by the strength and support you all have shown to one another during the last few difficult months.
I will always think of him when I pass the coffee shop on Englewood, having seen him there so many times over the past 30 years.

Kitty, Ken, Sue, Dan, and family,
I remember Ken Sr. as far back as'67, and I have wonderful memories of a kind, loving man. I'd love to share some of them one day soon. Our little corner of Buffalo was blessed to have him, and the Dowd family. My heartfelt love and condolences,
Donna Moorhouse

I'm so very sorry to hear of "The Chief's" passing. He will be sorely missed on our visits to 10th House.
You and your family are in my prayers-as always.

Mr. Dowd, from one Irishman to another...
God Speed Chief, God Speed...
This Irish
What shall I say about the Irish?
The utterly impractical, never predictable
Something irascible, quite inexplicable Irish.
Strange blend of shyness, pride and conceit,
And stubborn refusal to bow in defeat.
He's spoiling and ready to argue and fight,
Yet the smile of a child fills his soul with delight.
His eyes are the quickest to well up in tears,
Yet his strength is the strongest to banish your fears.
His faith is as fierce as his devotion is grand,
And there's no middle ground on which he will stand.
He's wild and he's gentle.
He's good and he's bad.
He's proud and he's humble.
He's happy and he's sad.
He's in love with the ocean, the earth and the skies.
He's enamored with beauty wherever it lies.
He's victor and victim, a star and a clod,
But mostly he's Irish in love with his God.

To The Dowd Family,
We will miss "The Chief". Our back porch visits and his helpful "supervisory skills" when ever one of us was working on the house. He was the best fan the kids had when they were in the yard playing. We'll miss his wave hello from his perch on the driveway wall. He was a good friend and made this neighborhood a wonderful place to come home to. We are very glad he was a part of our lives.

I will gladly be the first to say what an extraordinary man Kenny was. He changed my life forever. I will never forget him for that.
