Kenneth Eason Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 13, 2017.
WILMINGTON - Kenneth Dunn Eason, 76, passed away suddenly on April 11, 2017. He was born in Murrells Inlet, SC, April 26, 1940, to Edwin Dusenbury Eason and Margaret Lorine Brown Eason.

Ken was a dedicated worker who served as a supervisor for E.B. Towles Construction, Ideal Cement, Giant Cement and Wheel Estates, Inc., in Murrells Inlet, Myrtle Beach, Harleyville, and Wilmington.

Ken was always there to lend a helping hand. He never met a stranger and would give you the shirt off his back. He had an easy smile and an enthusiastic laugh, and he was always cracking jokes. He loved fishing, his tractors, and entertaining. As his son says, "put him inside and he couldn't boil water, but put him outside and he could cook up a feast." His fried chicken and barbecue were out of this world and fed masses of friends and neighbors.
He was one of the hardest-working men around, always busy planting, mowing and taking care of everything and everyone on Towles Road in Wilmington. The neighborhood kids enjoyed many tractor rides and golf cart rides with "Mr. Ken."

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Edward Eason, Jack Eason, Danny Eason, Shirley Wehunt, Irma Phifer, and Charles Eason.
He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Judy Reeves Eason; son Kenneth Brian Eason of Thomasville, NC; grandson Brandon Lee Eason of Columbia, SC; and grandson Ryan Austin Eason of Thomasville, NC. He is also survived by siblings William Eason, Carolyn Brooks, Thomas Eason, David Eason and James Eason.

He leaves behind countless friends who were like family to him, including life-long friends Billy and Brenda Towles, as well as many neighbors who will miss seeing his smile as he rode by on his tractor.

A visitation will be held Saturday, April 15, at 2:00 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Kevin Groves officiating at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral & Cremation Service at 3915 Oleander Drive in Wilmington, NC.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Mr. Eason's honor to a charity of your choice.

Dear Judy and Brian,
Our hearts go out to both of you for your loss. Ken was such a good person and a hard worker. Judy, you and Ken were long-time friends of my parents and I know they treasured your friendship. Kenny did so many things for my parents in their final years--kindnesses that my sisters and I will never forget. May you and your family find peace in your love and memories of Kenny.
Most sincerely,
Louise Marshburn Fearon

Judy,
It goes without saying that both you and Ken are the most thoughtful neighbors I've ever known. Whether it is dropping off fresh flowers hand-cut from your yard, dropping fresh shrimp and fish off, clearing the entire neighborhood of debris after storms, there has never been anyone like it. Not to mention, ALWAYS taking the time to stop and say hello. It is people like you who make life worthwhile. We love you. Tom & Hope
