Funeral service for Kenneth Easterling is 10 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2008 at Memorial Heights Baptist Church with Reverend Paul Simpson officiating. Interment will be in Claremore’s Woodlawn Cemetery, under the direction of Rice Funeral Service. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday until 8 p.m. and the family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-7 p.m. Kenneth, 77, died Thursday morning, Feb. 14, 2008 at his home.Ken was born May 25, 1930 at Tiawah, Okla. to Earl Easterling and Viola (Chesser) Easterling. He grew up in Tiawah and attended the Tiawah School. He later studied at NEO A and M, pursuing his electrician’s interests. He later put his education to use in his career in electrical sales with Star Electric and Nelson Electric. Ken was also the District 5 Board member for Verdigris Valley Electrical Cooperative. He and Barbara Sellers were married on Nov. 20, 1953 at Memorial Heights Baptist Church, Claremore. Ken’s passion was sports. He was a long time season ticket holder at Claremore Zebra games and was a big fan of Dallas Cowboy football and St. Louis Cardinal baseball. Ken enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and playing golf. There was nothing greater to him than being a good dad and a loving grandfather and great-grandfather. He also enjoyed the traveling opportunities his job provided him.Ken is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara, of the home; one son Ron Easterling and his wife, Jeanine of Claremore; a daughter, Sherrill Blan and her husband, Kenny of Verdigris; grandchildren, Nathaniel, Melissa and Anita Easterling, all of Claremore; Jason Houtman and his wife, Stacy of Broken Arrow, Jennifer Houtman, also of Broken Arrow and Ashley and Wes Blan of Tulsa; two great-grandchildren, Maddison and Maddox Houtman and one brother, Bill Easterling of Claremore.
