Barb,
Last time I saw you, I think, was at your wedding. Afterward, I got up and sang with Frank Wakefield. It's been a long time, but I've thought of you guys often and Googled Ken from time to time.
I was just on the phone with Frank Swartwout, now my ex-husband, and we were talking about guitars and you and Ken came up. I took the opportunity to do a Google search to look you up. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw Ken's obituary come up at the top of the search.
Barb, I am so sorry for your loss, for your children's loss, and for the loss to all Ken's and your family, friends, colleagues, and patients.
Frank was just sick to hear the news and had to get off the phone right away. Please know how much he was loved, even 'though it has been so long since we saw him.

Dear Barb, Meg and Max,
This must have been a difficult holiday season for you all. I just today found out about Ken's death and must say I am so sorry to hear about your loss and pain. I worked with Ken at BHC and he was a wonderful, kind, compassionate man. He was great at diagnosis and treatment of his patients. I missed working with him after I left BHC. We were both on the short end of the stick at BHC but we worked hard to make life a better place for so many who were without hope. He was a kind and generous man - loved by many - his presence in psychiatry will be greatly missed. Know that you did make a difference, Dr. Gladieux.

To Barb and Children: Words cannot express to you to sadness I feel in my heart for what you are going through right now. I met you and Kenny one evening when you first came to Lynchburg.Ken had the greatest sense of humor and even in the circumstances he was making everyone else laugh. I enjoyed deep discussions with him and found him to be a very passionate person about his work and felt he truly cared about his patients. I was excited that Lynchburg would have him to call our own. Barb, I had alot of hope that things would turn out alright for you and I am so sorry for you and the children. He touched the lives of many in Lynchburg in the short time he was here.

I remember Kenny so well as on of the gang of kids in our neighborhood. Jones Point, Lee Street Park, Prince Street, Tot Lot. I see him so clearly in his soccer cleats...he was so cool even as a little guy. I didn't see him much as a grown up but was aware of the great man he became. Moira O'Leary

Dear Barb, Meg, and Max,
I just found out about Kenny. I am so sorry and want you to know you are in my thoughts. I, too, was a fraternity brother of Kenny's at UVA and will always remember the great times Kenny and I had working during the summer of 1987 at K.L. Christie's. Kenny always brought a smile to my face. I will miss him.

Dearest Barb, Meg, and Max,
I smiled today at a warm memory of Ken, from Wyoming in '01. We were driving to a wedding, but Ken just had to stop the car for photos when he noticed an amazing view where river, mountains, and sunset converged. That time, like so many times, Ken paused to appreciate nature, beauty, and really being in the moment.
Barb, my wish for you is that all the beautiful memories will bring you peace, and will gradually replace the pain you are in now. Sending you so much love, Amy

Dear Barb, Meg, and & Max: I have been devastated since hearing about Dr. Gladieux. I worked with him in Monticello, Arkansas and in the two years that I worked with him, he touched my heart so many times. He cared so much about his work and his family. My thoughts and prayers are with you guys right now during this difficult time.

Dear Gladieux Family:
Kenny was my fraternity brother at UVA. We met the first week of college--our dorms adjoined--and he made me laugh from that day forward. Kenny was one of the most down to earth, positive, and fun people I have ever had the privilege to be around. He was thoughtful, smart, and always pushing others to have fun and see the comedic side of life. He did great impressions of mutual friends that were particularly funny. Though I lost touch with Kenny over the past ten years or so, I always considered him a friend and was proud to have been his friend and fraternity brother. Please accept my family's condolences and sympathy.
