Kenneth HAM Obituary

Published by Vancouver Sun and/or The Province from Mar. 24 to Mar. 25, 2018.
HAM, Kenneth Gordon
We are sad to announce to death of Ken Ham on Friday, March 16, 2018. Ken was born in Vancouver on July 13, 1952 and graduated from Killarney High School and the University of British Columbia. After travelling extensively to many parts of the world he returned to Vancouver to work professionally as an accountant. Ken loved to sail and to ski and for many years was very active in the federal riding association of Vancouver Center. Most of all he loved to spend time with his family and friends at three of his favourite places - Bowen Island, Whistler and Savary Island. He lived much of his adult life in New Westminster where he and his wife raised their family. He was a kind and gentle man who will be remembered very fondly by family and friends. Ken is survived by his wife, Nancy Clarke, and his three sons, Kenneth (Arezou), Christopher and Ian and his granddaughter Amarya. He is also survived by his mother Joy, brother Doug (Carmen) and sister Tammy. As well, Ken leaves a large extended family including nephews and nieces Allison, Stephen, Douglas, Elizabeth, Sarah and Camille. We respect and praise Ken for the dignity and fortitude with which he received his diagnosis of Huntington's Disease and his family is grateful for the care and empathy he received from the staff at George Derby Center where he resided for the past five years. Family gatherings to remember and to celebrate Ken's life will be held at later dates on Bowen Island and at Alta Lake.

I was saddened to hear of Ken's passing. I have great memories of Ken: scouts with Ken being one of the senior members of Stag Patrol; hanging out at Ski Country with Doug and Ken; skiing up Grouse. I always appreciated his wonderful sense of humour. Condolences to Doug and and family.

Sorry to hear Ken's gone. I've known ken along time, we used to walk to school together when we were going to Captain Cook Elementary. We chummed around a bit back then. I remember his parents used to raise chickens in their back yard. Ken and I graduated together in 1970 from Killarney High School. After Graduation I only saw Ken at a couple of Grad Reunions. Rest in Peace Ken.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Kens passing. I have been reflecting on the great times we had skiing, campaigning in the federal political arena, articling at Thorne Riddell, and sharing more than a few beers or glasses or wine at dinners at your Kits apartment. Ken will be missed. Nancy - our condolences to you and your family. Roger Flowerdew & Deborah Quinn

I had the pleasure of articling with Ken and I was pleased to call him my friend. He had a great heart and he always had a smile on his face.
Our group will be sure to commemorate Ken's memory over a glass as I am sure he would want us to. Our sincere condolences go to Ken's family.

Nancy...my condolences to you and your family. Many awesome Killarney memories and very fond memories of weekends on Bowen Island under the watchful eye of Mrs. Ham.

Sad to hear of Ken's death. I remember him fondly as a great campaigner in our Vancouver Centre federal elections--people like Ken are the heart beat of our democracy. Hon Pat Carney PC CM.

I graduated from Killarney with Ken - we all shared so many fun together. Comfort to the family.

I am sorry for your loss, I knew Ken from spending summers on Bowen when we were probably 14/15 year olds- he living above the baseball diamond and me in Deep Bay, we saw each other infrequently at UBC and the odd function. I remember him as a good guy who was always friendly, kind and open.
I wish I had known of his time at GD.
