To the family of Ken Harris:
It just makes me terribly sad to hear of Ken's passing - like so many others here, I didn't realize he was ill. I first met Ken over 45 years ago - in the 1960's when we were just teenagers attending Airline High School - though I was in the class of 1969 and Ken was younger, class of 1970 or perhaps 1971. And then I was surprised to discover that he and my husband were both firefighters in Bossier City!! Ken was such a wonderful boy who became a wonderful man - he was so funny and seemed to always have a smile on his face. Ken loved his family and he loved his life - and it showed. You will, of course, miss him terribly but he has left all of you with such wonderful memories and that is what will see you through the hard days - you were all so very fortunate to have had this man as your husband, your father and your grandfather. I truly regret losing contact with Ken and other old friends when my husband and I divorced and I didn't see my firefighter friends as often as I should have. Ken Harris was a very good person and this world lost someone very special when God called this particular angel home. May God bless each of you and please know that you are in the prayers of many, many people who loved Ken Harris.

God looked around his garden
and found an empty place.
He then looked down upon the earth,
And saw your tired face.
He put His arms around you,
And lifted you to rest.
God's garden must be beautiful,
He always takes the best.
He knew you were suffering,
He knew that you were in pain.
He knew that you would never,
Get well on earth again.
He saw the road was getting rough,
And the hills were hard to climb,
So He closed your weary eyelids,
And whispered, "Peace be thine."
It broke our hearts to lose you,
But you didn't go alone,
For part of us went with you,
The day God called you home.
Mary & Melissa,Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Mary, Melissa and Family;
Charles and I are very sorry for your loss, Ken was a great friend to us and I know he is in a much better place without any pain. I can relate to what he was going through, since I have had Cancer and had to go through Chemo. When we would run into him at the Cancer Center he always had a very positive attitude. Ken always played with Melissa and Jonathon when we visited the Fire Station and his face would turn red, they then called him "Chief Red Face" he thought that was funny. If you need anything please let us know.

Ken, Skip, J.L. and Flo was just like an extention of the Alexander family. We had so much fun together as kids - going skiing, camping and motorcycle riding. Although it's been years since I've seen Ken, he has always held a special place in my heart.I've been able to keep up with your family somewhat through Heidi. Memories will last forever and I have so many treasured ones of Ken. Mary,Melissa,Skip and families - you are in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless you!

Mary, It's been so long since we've seen you and Ken, but it feels like it was just yesterday Ken was carrying on like a crazy man at Lanny& Marilyn's. He had firecrackers and bottle rockets shooting out of his pockets and everywhere else you can imagine !! He was so fun. And us girls sure had fun at your house as well. I just wanted to let you know I'm thinking about you and know how hard it is for you and your family right now. I'm so sorry for everything you've been through. Ken is up there with my Daddy..I bet they'll be friends. Prayers and love to you..Karen & Dale

Melissa:
I am so sorry for your loss. I will continue to pray for your family. I can identify with your pain, as my dad lost a battle to a rare blood disease when I was 20 and I am also an only child like you are and my parents were married for 24 years. He, like your dad, was a big LSU fan and I wish he could have stayed around to watch LSU win the championships. But, I know he is watching over me and your dad will watch over you and your children as well. Your situation brings back so many memories and emotions. The only thing that held me together is knowing that he is finally at peace with God. That alone was the only thing that got me through the pain and it will also help you. As hard as it is to believe, the pain will pass but the love that you feel for him will never end. Please call me anytime you want to talk. - Melissa Ebarb 560-5577.

Mary: so sorry to hear of Ken's passing. He fought a hard fight- and so did you. It was an inspiration to me watching the way you handled the last few months. I know it was hard on you but you were able to handle Ken's health issues along with your mom's growing old issues and somehow manage your responsibilities at work without seeming to ever miss a beat. It's been right at a year since my dad passed away and there are days I would sure like to have him near. I want you to know Penne and I will have you and Melissa in our prayers. I can't be at funeral but will call Saturday when I get back in town. God bless you and your family.
