Kenneth Francis "Ken" Harris

Kenneth Francis "Ken" Harris, 89, of Mountain Lake, Burlington Township, Pennsylvania, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 12, 2017 at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, Pennsylvania.

Ken was born on April 4, 1928 in New Era, Pennsylvania, the son of Frank McCullough Harris and Lorena Scrivens Harris. He was a graduate of Troy High School class of 1949.

On April 8, 1950, he married the former Dorothy M. "Dot" Andrus at the Burlington United Methodist parsonage. In early years, Ken was employed by Cox's Tire Shop in Towanda and by Westinghouse Corp. in Elmira, New York. He owned and operated his dairy farm at Mountain Lake for many years and continued working on the farm until the time of his passing. Ken also served as a school bus driver for the Troy School District for a number of years. He was a member of the Burlington United Methodist Church, Iona Grange, Bradford-Sullivan Pomona Grange, Pennsylvania State Grange, and was a seventh degree member of the National Grange. Ken was also a member of the Holstein USA Association for 47 years, Pennsylvania Holstein Association, Towanda Bowling Hall of Fame and the Troy Bowling Hall of Fame.

He loved the outdoors, farming, bowling, playing cards and dancing.

Surviving are his son, Ronnie Harris of Mountain Lake; daughters, Marylou Rogers and husband Charles of Mountain Lake, Jane Bowker and husband Steve of Towanda; grandchildren, Tom Rogers and wife Bobbie Sue of Wysox, Tony Rogers and wife Jamie of Lawton, Oklahoma, Megan Palmer of Towanda; sisters-in-law, Alta Harris of Towanda, Diane Andrus of Columbia Cross Roads; brother-in-law, Donald "Jake" Walborn of Mountain Lake; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many good friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Dorothy, on July 16, 2001; brother, Walter Carl Harris, on Sept. 6, 2009; and an infant brother.

The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday at the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, 217 York Ave., Towanda, Pennsylvania. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2017 at the funeral home.

Interment will follow in Bradford County Memorial Park, Burlington Township, Pennsylvania. The family suggests that contributions may be directed to a charity or organization of one's choice in Ken's memory.
