Kenneth Jenkins Obituary

Kenneth H. Jenkins, 83, of Midway Manor, Shavertown, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2005, at the Mercy Hospital, Scranton, following a lengthy illness.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, Oct. 6, 1921, he was a son of the late Thomas and Mary Jenkins and had attended Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre.
Mr. Jenkins had served in the United States Army during World War II. He was employed for 34 years at Follmer Trucking Co. He also had been employed for many years as a part-time Kingston Township Police Officer.
He was a member of St. Francis Cabrini Church, Carverton section of Kingston Township, and was an active member of the Back Mountain Lions.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Melinskey, and his brother, Thomas.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, the former Millie Mushinski; daughters Debbie Phillips, Wilkes-Barre; Charlene Cross, Newport Township; nieces and nephews.
He will be greatly missed by his family for his great sense of humor and his love of his family.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday from the Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home, 140 N. Main St., Shavertown, with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Francis Cabrini Church, with the Rev. Joseph Weber officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Carverton section of Kingston Township.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gino J. Merli Veterans Center Residence Fund, 401 Penn Ave., Scranton, PA 18503.
