Kenneth Jones Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 24, 2025.
Kenneth "Kenny" Jones, age 69, of New Market, TN, passed away peacefully at Fort Sanders Regional surrounded by his loving family early July 23, 2025. Kenny was a well known member of the community. An educator and coach in Jefferson County for 23 years, he was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Knoxville. He wore many hats in his life but the one he was most proud of was father and "granddaddy". Family was everything to Kenny. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ken and Mary Cate Jones, and maternal grandfather, Earl Cate. He is survived by his loving children Morgan Jones, Bryce (Jordan) Jones, and MollyCate (Joe) Day, grandchildren Paxton, Kingston, Leighton, Harper, Saylor and MaisynCate, siblings Carol (David) White and Tim Jones, and friend and former wife, Camille Jones, and lifelong friends, that are too many to name.

The family will have a Celebration of Life at First Baptist Church of Strawberry Plains on Friday, August 1, 2025, from 4:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Maury Middle School Athletic Department.

Coach Jones was my 6th grade Social Studies and Football coach! I was privileged to have been taught and coached by him! He along with the other teachers at Maury middle school are prime examples of what a great teacher and friend should be! He was just an all around great guy and friend! He will be greatly missed!

I was blessed to have Coach Jones as a teacher in the 6th grade at Maury. He was one of many that exemplified what a teacher and coach should be. I am sure that he and Mr. Bettis are having a wonderful time in eternity. My prayers will be with the family.

Kenny is so dear to our family. Jim and I taught with him. He coached Maury Middle football with Jim. Our children Evan and Deke both loved him as their teacher. Many Maury faculty and students are grieving the loss of a teacher educator. I know Kenny was so proud of his children and grand children. He loved Carol so much. My love and prayers are with all who are mourning our loss. Kenny is now using strong legs to run and greet his heavenly family. He is pain free and all smiles. We love you!
