Kenneth Krauss Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 2, 2024.
Kenneth M. Krauss, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend passed away peacefully in Las Cruces, New Mexico, on November 24, 2024, at the age of 87. Born on April 30, 1937, in Waukesha, Wisconsin, Ken's life was marked by service, dedication, and love.

Ken proudly served in the United States Air Force as a radar mechanic for six years, including four and a half years overseas, a testament to his commitment to his country. Following his military service, Ken returned to Wisconsin, where he began a family and pursued a career in farming.

His life took a joyful turn when he married Carol Hibner, with whom he shared 39 wonderful years. Together, they made their home in Phoenix, Arizona, before retiring to the tranquil White Mountains of east central Arizona.

Ken was an avid outdoorsman, finding joy in camping on the Mogollon Rim and exploring the canyon lands of southern Utah. His love for nature was matched by his compassion for animals, as he dedicated himself to rescuing and caring for many unwanted and misfit cats and kittens in Arizona and New Mexico.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Carol; his daughter, Kay Hottenstine (Joe) of Shawano, Wisconsin; his son, Kevin Krauss of Clintonville, Wisconsin; his siblings, Ted Krauss (Sandy), Butch Krauss (Rita), and Bettie Brandt. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Darlene Findley (Bill), sister-in-law Joan Hibner (Ed Parker), brothers-in-law Mark Hibner (Vicki) and Chris Hibner, cherished grandchildren, including Louis A. Skaggs (Megan), Gaven Vance, Chelsea Hottenstine, Jennifer Kirkwood, and Tabitha Krauss, eight great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Clarice Krauss, his brother James Krauss, brothers-in-law Greg Hibner and David Brandt, and granddaughter Nicole Skaggs.

Kenneth M. Krauss will be remembered for his intelligence, talent, kindness, and unwavering love. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

I don't remember much about Uncle Ken personally when we were growing up because we were always sent outside to play. I do remember going to his house in North Prairie many times and Dad would always take Strawberry Road to get there. It was full of twists and turns and small hills where we would "loose our stomachs"and laugh. My deepest sympathy to Carol and our cousins Kay and Kevin.
