Kenneth Lilly Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 30, 2023.
Ken Lilly passed away peacefully on Monday, July 24, 2023, at age 87. Ken left our world from his home with his wife of 66 years holding his hand. Ken is survived by his wife Patricia, his daughter Pamela (Randy) Ruppel and his son Kent (Kathy) Lilly. He loved his grandchildren Kenneth, Katie, Kameron, Matt, Kasey, Josh, and Olivia with all his heart. He is also survived by his brother Keith (Beverly), brother-in-law Roger (Rose) Phelps and many nieces and nephews and their children and grandchildren.

Ken began his career at Eli Lilly and Co. at age 18 and retired in 1993 after 40 years of devotion to the company and his many colleagues and friends. He spent 14 years as a town council member in Plainfield, Indiana.

He was an elder at the Danville Presbyterian Church before moving to Plainfield in 1967. He was an active member of the Plainfield Christian Church until his permanent move to Naples, FL in 2019. He and Pat have attended the Isle of Capri Christian Church for many years. Ken was a 50 year member of the Danville Masonic Lodge and a 32nd degree Mason of the Indianapolis Scottish Rite. He was a member of the Plainfield Optimist Club and the Plainfield Elks.

Ken was a resident of Royal Wood Community of Naples, FL since 1987. He loved his Royal Wood family and enjoyed the camaraderie of his golf buddies for many years. Until the last month of Ken's life he cared about making sure his buddies had the right club grips, tools, and every other thing they may have needed to borrow.

Ken is cherished by his children and grandchildren and was completely involved in their many activities either coaching or cheering them on in the auditoriums, galleries, or sidelines. He lived a wonderful life filled with joy, love, and laughter. He was known for cracking funny jokes, silly puns, and comments which will be remembered and reiterated by his loved ones. His family keeps a record of his "Pappy-isms" and will be quoting him for generations.

He always had something silly and fun to add to the conversation never missing a moment to tell his family how special they were and how proud he was of them. Every moment in his life was filled with love and warmth. In his last moments he did not fail to let his family know that he was listening and watching. Ken passed knowing he was being cared for and persistently loved.

His family would like to thank AVOW Hospice and Ageless Home Care for their amazing care and attention to Ken in the last months of his life. Pat would like to thank her many friends who have blessed her with kind letters, messages, visits, texts, and calls.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a small donation to AVOW Hospice of Naples, FL be considered.

My heart breaks for Pat and his loving family and friends. May you feel the grace of God around you and within you. Ken was a wonderful man who always had a kind word, smile and maybe a joke or antidote to share. He will always be missed and admired. With love and prayers.

There are not enough kind words we can share about Papa Lilly. We are so grateful for all the memories we made with him on and off the golf course. His kindness and silly sense of humor will forever be missed by our family. We love you all. The Stieners.

I remember dancing in the basement of your home in Plainfield, and your sweet hospitality. So sorry for your loss, Pam and family.
