Obituary for Kenneth "Wayne" Montgomery

Kenneth Wayne Montgomery passed away on December 9, 2024. He had just turned 70yrs old in November. He is awaiting the resurrection spoken of in the bible at Acts 24:15. I have hope toward God... that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.

Wayne was the oldest son of Lila (Mercer) and Kenneth Leighton Montgomery. He was raised with 2 siblings, Brent and Dale Montgomery. The family resided together in Moundsville, West Virginia. He was diagnosed with colon/bladder cancer in 2017. For treatment he underwent surgery and chemotherapy to eradicate the tumors. He lived without pain even though the cancer remained.

Wayne was an active teen that played high school football for 3yrs. He really enjoyed this sport and was a fan of the Pittsburg Steelers. Wayne put himself through West Virginia State College for 4 years where he earned a degree in accounting and management. After college he was hired in 1983 in Morgan Town WV as a Manufacture Representative for the Hills Department stores. Beginning his career by writing orders for 80 manufactures. Hills transferred him to Nashville TN and then to Indianapolis IN. He finished his career in 2006 with Hills as a District Manager overseeing 24 representatives. Unfortunately, this department store went out of business. Wayne then filled in the rest of his career with sales and delivery jobs. To name a few: Indianapolis News Paper, Dodge, Toyota, Nabisco, and Dollar General. He said the best piece of advice that he could give is to plan for your future retirement. Put something away every pay day.

Wayne was the father of 3 children. Jason W Jarvis born in Aug of 1980. Heather Butcher born in Oct of 1983. Eric W Montgomery born in Aug of 1990. He was blessed to be the grandfather to 9 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He married Sheryl C. Augustus and became stepfather of 5 other adult children. He was also blessed with many step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. Wayne and Sheryl built a life together for 10 years and then she passed away Feb of 2024. They enjoyed watching football games, gardening, feeding the wildlife, and drinking coffee on the patio while they watched the sunrise together.

During his last months he was cared for by his stepdaughter and stepson in law with the assistance of his congregation of friends. In His final days he was made comfortable by the caring staff of the Hospital Hospice unit. As a member of the Jehovah Witnesses, he took great comfort in the promise found at Revelation 21:4 God will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more, neither will mourning, nor out cry, nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.

Services will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 4770 Curtis Blvd, Cocoa Fl. 32927 Zoom attendance will be available to those that are unavailable to attend in person.

Wayne was always fighting with his brothers. I also remember one time when he was about 10 and i was 6 my aunt drove thru Elby´s and we thought we were getting something to eat. We looked at each other and grinned She drove back out of the lot. Wayne had a great dry sense of humor. I loved him very much.
