Buddie Etzler

Buddie Edward Etzler, 86, of Mt. Airy, died Monday, April 2, 2012 at Frederick Memorial Hospital, following an illness of one week. Born March 3, 1926 in Frederick County, he was the son of the late Hilda Naomi Etzler. He was the husband of Alice Virginia Etzler, his wife of 64 years. Mr. Etzler was a dairy farmer and moved to the Central area in 1959 where he operated a saw mill and was a remarkable finishing carpenter. He retired in 1992 as an independent builder. Buddie served on the Chapel Cemetery board of directors and enjoyed gardening and chewing tobacco. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are daughter Mary Alice Etzler of Mt. Airy; and grandson, Richard Allen Senseney. He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Allen Etzler in 1967. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 6, at Hartzler Funeral Home, 11802 Liberty Rd., Libertytown, with Rev. James Russell, a retired Lutheran pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Chapel Cemetery, near Libertytown. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
