Kenneth Patzer Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 10, 2015.
It is with deep and heavy sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth Patzer on December 9, 2015. He was at his home surrounded by his loving wife and family. Kenneth was born in Elmhurst, Illinois on February 29, 1936. He is survived by his wife, Maxine; his sons Gerry and Thomas Huerta; daughters Deborah Scott and Carol Dean; his grandchildren Carissa, Shannon, Brendan, Colin, Alex, Chelsea and Emily; and his great grandchildren Landon and Lily.
A service will be held on March 5, 2016 at 1:00 pm to celebrate his 80th birthday with a small luncheon to follow. It will be at Gethsemane Lutheran Church 1035 E. Guadalupe Road, Tempe, AZ. 85283. The family asks that no flowers be sent. Instead, a coin jar will be present at the celebration and we ask that you place a few coins in it. This was a silly habit that we as a family get great joy from when we share our stories of him finding pennies. For those who knew Ken well knows he enjoyed chatting with everyone when he was out and about. He will be missed and we know that his loss will be felt by many.Kenneth was a proud Marine and he enjoyed teasing both his children and grandchildren with his troop commands. He loved to shop which gave him the opportunity to talk to so many people. His singing of his favorite crooners of the '40s and the '50s will never be forgotten every time his family hears a Nat King Cole song. He has passed on his talents and his wisdom to us all, and none of us will ever move a piece of furniture without saying "Watch The Walls!" A private ceremony for the family was held on December 21, 2015 at Green Acres Cemetery where he was laid to rest with the presence of the United States Marine Corps presenting him with military honors.

Granddad words can't explain how much you are missed and loved. Everyday I think of you and miss you. You were always there when I wanted to laugh, play dentist, eat watermelon or sneak margaritas hahaha. You were a wonderful grandfather and great grandfather! A great dancer and singer too! There are so many memories I have of you and me and I will hold them near and dear to my heart forever. I love you with all my heart.

Ken was my father in law who I first met when I was 16 years old. His son Tom brought him into where I worked to get his dads "approval". Ken approved, and later would tell me he liked the way "styled my hair". I had a great relationship with my father in law over the years. He was a kind and compassionate man, and a very caring and loving grandfather to Shannon, Brendan, and Colin. I will forever remember Ken was the best dance I had on my wedding day , he even dipped me! I will forever miss him, and look forward to when we will have another dance in Heaven. I love you Ken, rest in peace. Margie

For my loving grandpa, who will live in our hearts forever. I'll always cherish so many amazing memories. There was never a dull moment around grandpa, always bringing smiles to everyone's faces no matter what. We always loved talking sports or about painting since he was so proud I followed in his footsteps. I can go on and on, but until we meet again rest in paradise grandpa!

To me, Uncle Ken was the kindest of souls. As children, my brother and I would look forward to holidays at the Patzers. While all the sisters/aunts hurried and scurried about preparing meals, Ken would call Jimmy and me downstairs. He loved to put his arm around us and just hang out. It made me feel special. His laughter was contagious as he joyfully laughed with us. And his laugh was the best! Always a sweetheart. Always accepting. And then, when I was a mere 20ish years old, I was able to see Uncle Ken again. He was just as sweet. I walked away from him feeling the same comfort and acceptance. What a guy! I have to further this story by saying that i was so fortunate to get to know Uncle Ken in my adult life. I saw his gentle and loving soul yet again! I was so happy to have him in my home and cook for him, and felt happy that he enjoyed it. I can only imagine the loss you all feel for such a heartfelt man. My sincere condolences.

To my wonderful sister Maxine: I have to say we had wonderful times with you ken over the years he was always congenial and thoughtful of people happy to be around your family and friends never a negative thought passed his lips. Always fun to be with. Never seen him angry. He was great with my children. Taught them not to be afraid of thunderstorms when they were with him as little children he was a good man. Will miss him. Always loved going to Church and Ken was there. He always wanted to know how I was and what was happening in my life. He was always concerned about me selling my house in Pennsylvania. Missed him when he did not go to church. What a great person and genuine. Ken is now living with Jesus and that is what we all strive for. We will meet again. God Bless.

I want to send my sympathy to the family. I always looked forward to going to church and see pops. I just took to him,he was such a nice man along with his wife. If he was in his pew I would go over to hug and give him a kiss then go back to my pew. Even in the hallway he would come over to hug and talk. He is greatly missed. Love all of you Gods Blessings to all the family
