Kenneth Sargent

Waterford - Kenneth John Sargent, 81, of Waterford, passed away on Monday, Jan. 21, 2019 at Bridebrook Healthcare, Niantic.

Ken was born on Dec. 7, 1937 in Angola, Indiana to Harold T. Sargent and Alice M. (Colcord) Sargent.

Ken graduated from the University of Vermont in 1960 with a degree in electrical engineering and later received his graduate degree from Northern Colorado University. After graduation from UVM he began his career at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (Sound Lab) in New London. Ken married Sally Sanderson in Burlington, Vermont in 1961.

Following his retirement from the Sound Lab in 1994, Ken worked for several government contractors but devoted much of his time to his children and grandchildren. Ken was a past treasurer and president of the Waterford Historical Society. Ken was always willing to drop what he was doing to help his children and grandchildren in any project, big or small.

Ken is survived by his beloved wife, Sally (Sanderson) Sargent; children, Christopher Sargent, Edward Sargent and his wife Lisa, Stephen Sargent, Carolyn Sargent, Timothy Sargent and his wife Nancy; and grandchildren, Megan Battista and her husband Nicholas, Colton, Sarah, Emily, Michael, Kevin, Ava, and Kyle.

Ken is also survived by his brothers, Harry and James, and sisters RuthAnn and Barbara. His brother Paul and grandsons Tyler and Connor predeceased him.
