Dawn's Speech at the Funeral:
Do you know that I could say anything I want right now….and there’s nothing he can do about it.
This one’s for you Dad, (as I point to my nose….I always wanted the Tysick nose and now I have one…what do you think?)
I’m sure Dad would be happy to see you all here today – you know how he loved a celebration. Dad worked hard and he played hard…he loved life, he loved his family, he loved people and he loved to have a good time ....maybe too good sometimes.
He was a hard worker sometimes working 3 jobs at a time, he provided for his family, the man was never sick , he enjoyed the campsite and was able to make it back one last time, he loved to hunt and he got to do that too….his stay at the hospital wasn’t as bad as he made it seem….he had us all at his beck and call….even the nurses used to come in and watch movies with him during the night shift
Right till the end he made us laugh….
On Sunday night, the doctor asked him if he had any pain…..Dad said “I have a pain in my bum” (not exactly what he said)….the doctor giggled behind his mask and thought he misunderstood him….so he asked again more specifically “do you have pain in your chest Mr Tysick”…Dad said “no I told you I have a pain in my bum”… he was talking about his tailbone….not me.
Last week…he was telling his new homecare doctor about the headaches he was having….and he pointed to me and said “ask her she was always there when I got them”….I think he was trying to tell me something.
He was dubbed the million dollar man by the general hospital…..for all the care they gave him….he was worth a million plus more to us, the ones he loved, and the ones who loved him.
He used to always call me “kid”…..apparently from what I’m hearing he called a lot of us that…now that I’m thinking about it…..he probably couldn't remember all our names.
He used to say things like …..
Eat it…it will put hair on your chest and lead in your pencil…just what us girls wanted to hear.
I’ve got places to go, people to see and things to do ….. God is sure going to have his hands full.
He’d say, I’m here for a good time not a long time….. and it was a good time, just not long enough.
I made a promise to my dad a long time ago…..and now I have to ‘put up or shut up’…like that’s ever gonna happen…so I’m inviting everyone back to my house for a celebration….I know he wanted an Irish wake…..so lets give him what he wanted…..as much as you may get the urge to have a drink in the parking lot for old times sake…save it for my place…..the bar is stocked….. You don’t get over loss by forgetting….you get over it by remembering… please come share your stories with us.
I feel honored to say Ken Tysick was my Dad….I lost something very precious…he was my hero….he was my rock….he loved me…..he was very proud of me…and he made sure I knew it.
Each of us has our special memories of Dad” …it’s obvious by everyone who came how much he touched us. His memory will live on…..in all of us.
I have never loved you more Dad..... I know you are partying up there….but remember this ‘save the last dance for me’.

Grandpa,
i remember going to your car shop when I was little. Awaited me was a sucker. I stood beside you as you worked. Maybe even helped a bit. I guess I had bugged you enough because soon we would make our way down to the old tractor in the back. Many pictures we took so many memories to keep. I remember each summer going to visit you at the camp site, and not wanting to leave..... May 30th 2010 I didn’t have a choice. Now you are gone and in my heart forever you will be, so many great memories. I promise you grandpa none will ever leave

Dear Ken,
You were my first love, together we had three beautiful girls, then I had a son, whom you allowed to call you Dad. You are an honest man and always did what you thought was right. Unfortunately we didn't always agree.
We have always remained friends until the end, I loved you then and I love you now. I am proud to say you were in my life, thinking of you always. Love,

Chelsea's speech at the Funeral:
I’d like to start off by saying thank you for being here today. I know we will all be grieving in different ways but as long as we are together we will be okay. There’s one word that I would use to describe Grandpa which is bruiser who is a large, strong man that is a fighter all grandpa did was fight and fight the pain until he lost. Grandpa had such a kind souls and his heart was full of love for every single one of us and still does. I wish I could have spent more time with him, that’s the one thing I regret doing. I remember the first time I saw grandpa in the hospital. I told everyone to leave the room and give me a minute. I had a heart to heart talk with him and the last thing I said before our talk ended was something someone told me when I needed someone the most. YOU ARE YOU AND YOU’RE OKAY. I held grandpas hand so tight but so firm and we both had tears running down our faces. After we left the hospital my mom asked me what did you say, no one has made grandpa cry in awhile. I felt bad but then relieved because he needed to cry. I know he appreciated our talk and that talk will be with me forever. I wish I was able to say a proper goodbye but deep down he knows each and everyone of us loves him. He’s in a better place now, and still with us in our memories, thoughts and hearts.
I love you grandpa

You were a man, many looked up too
You were a dad, others wished to be
You had 3 beautiful girls of your own,
And still you chose to keep me. (I had to go there...smile)
You were my dad as I knew no other
You were a part of it all no difference in treatment
My graduation, a car and my many boyfriends
I lost my DAD a year ago- true sentiments.
I appreciate all you’ve done and all you did
I’ll never forget our first drive, or my drunk sate under your care (campsite)
The way you asked me to dance or told me I was better than that.
You may not have been perfect- but a man like you is rare.
I miss you greatly...
Love Ronnie and family xo

Carrie, Dawn, Connie, Shannon and Ken's extended family,
It is with great sadness that I write this Condolence to you. I had no idea how ill Ken was. After reading the guest book entries, all I can say is
THEY ARE ALL CORRECT.
Ken loved his family. I have so many great memories of Ken, Judy, uncle Jack and Aunt Doris when we lived on Arlington. He was a devoted son and brother.
They say that we all meet again, and I hope that is true, cause, he will be greeted by Mom, Pop, Judy, uncle Pat and Uncle Leslie I am sure.
You were a good man Ken and you will be missed by all who knew you.
Your cousin

Dear Dawn, Connie, Shannon, Jerry, Ti, Dave, Carrie and family. It is difficult to find the words to express our sadness at this time. The world is a lesser place without Ken in it.
