Kenneth Frank Wasson 90, Indianapolis, a retired teacher, died January 4, 2008. He taught Industrial Arts in Goodland, IN and Perry Township for 39 years. He retired in 1979, Ken played four sports at Southport High School. He went to the state championship in track and wrestling. Ken graduated from Ball State, where he lettered in football, track and baseball. He held the homerun record there fro many years. Ken received his Masters Degree from IU. He coached HS basketball and football. His 1949 football team was Southport's only undefeated, untied team. Ken was a veteran. He served in the Navy Sea Bees in WWII. He was a founding member of Southport Christian Church. He was a member of the Southport Masonic Lodge for 65 years. Ken is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mildred; children, William M., Robert F. Wasson and Sallie Anderson; six grandsons and four great-grandchildren; sister, Doris Schroeder. Visitation will be Monday January 7 from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. January 8 in Wilson St. Pierre Southport Chapel, 7520 Madison Avenue. Burial will follow at Washington Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Southport Christian Church or the Alzheimer's Association.
