James Kermit Cox, age 85, of Asheboro passed away on Monday, November 28, 2022 at his home.

Mr. Cox was born in Randolph County on September 10, 1937 to William Henry and Ava Florence Maness Cox. He was a graduate of Coleridge High School and retired from Eveready Battery. Kermit was a member of Fayetteville Street Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, Kermit was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Cox Coble, 3 brothers, and 3 sisters. Kermit had a good sense of humor and was always willing to help others.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Faye Dean York Cox; daughters, Pam Henderson of Asheboro and Joy Hunt (Gary) of Asheboro; grandchildren, Daniel Henderson (Tiffany), Alex Pugh, Haley Henderson, Dylan King, Andrew Hunt, Avery Hunt, and Ava Hunt; and 6 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, December 1, 2022 from 12:00-1:45 pm at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Avenue in Asheboro. Funeral services will follow on Thursday at 2:00 pm at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Beane officiating. Interment will be held in Oaklawn Cemetery.
