Kermit Lems Obituary
He served four years in the United States Army, including time stationed in Germany-a period that etched resilience into the fabric of his life. After returning home, he poured that same dedication into building his family and construction, not only mastering the trade but founding and running his own company. The homes he built stood as lasting monuments to his skill and steady hand.
Kerm shared many cherished years with his beloved wife Cheryl Lems until her passing. Their winters spent snowbirding to Florida from Michigan were filled with sunlit days and simple joys. Whether casting a line while fishing or immersing himself in Westerns-on screen or page-Kerm found peace in nature and stories that echoed his own enduring spirit. Music filled his days, and the outdoors called to him like an old friend. Kerm had a goofy sense of humor that always felt like sunshine and loved his family fiercely.
He is remembered with love by his children: Steve Lems (Tom Evans), Melissa (Duane) Stachowski, and Corey Lems; grandchildren: Taylor (Charles) Hudson; Jordyn Lems; CJ (Dayln) Lems; Bryce (Kaylee) Postma; Chloe (Wayland) Williams; Anna Postma; Claudia Lems; and Casen Lems; his beloved great-grandchildren: Zaria and Arabella Hudson and Beau Lee.
Kerm is also remembered by siblings Ardys (Vern) Hinken, Lavine Dodd, and Pat Baak. He was preceded in death by the love of his life Cheryl; parents Peter and Deena Lems; and siblings Henry Lems, Phyllis (Paul) Noteboom, Lenard (Adeline) Lems, and Corb (Carrie) Lems.
A celebration of life will be held on November 8, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Noordeloos Christian Church, 4055 112th Ave, Holland MI, with coffee and desserts.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew and loved him.
