Kerry Vaughn Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 6, 2023.
This World Has Lost a Great Man
Kerry Matthew Vaughn left his earthly home and entered the arms of Jesus on August 1st, 2023, after a valiant battle with Glioblastoma (GBM) brain cancer. He was a true warrior who never wavered in his faith knowing God's will is perfect and his prognosis has always been eternal.

Kerry was born July 6, 1960, in Middletown Ohio to Arlie and Ruth (Lawson) Vaughn. He graduated from Bishop Fenwick High school where he excelled in sports, especially baseball. Shortly after graduating, Kerry began his 42 plus year career in the storage solutions industry. He was a teacher of his craft to all who had the honor to work with him. He was beyond loyal to the company he loved, Southwest Solutions Group. He always went above and beyond to make sure every job was done perfectly. He often sent his crew home and would stay extra hours to get the job done so his company would shine.

Kerry moved to Texas to work with SSG in 2007. Not long after he met Donna, his forever love. Over the last 15 years they lived a life of love and joy like no other. They travelled all over the world to some of the most beautiful places. Belgium, Hawaii, Spain, Germany, and Austria to name a few. Their greatest joy was getting to spend time with their blended family of children and being Oma & Opa to their grandchildren. Kerry was so proud of the amazing men and woman all 3 of his children have become.

Kerry enjoyed fishing. He belonged to a bass club for years where he made many lifelong friends. He also enjoyed going to casinos and playing cards. He was incredibly lucky! His favorite past time was watching sports, especially football. Of course, being born and raised in Ohio there were none better than the Bengals and The Ohio State Buckeyes. If you ever made plans to go somewhere when they were playing, you had better make sure there was a TV there! At first it was house divided when it came to the Longhorns & Cowboys, but he came around to love them too if they weren't playing his teams!

Over his lifetime Kerry impacted the lives of so many. He was that person when first met you couldn't help but fall in love with him. Well, except Donna who said "Thanks but don't do me any favors" when they first met! In all seriousness, he was the first to lift others up, take them under his wing, mentor them and ultimately change their lives. Donna often called him Peter Pan and his lost boys. He was fondly called "Old Dude" by those who loved him and when he loved you, you knew you were truly loved. He built special relationships through his final days in this world with his caretakers and support community. He and his family were grateful for the loving care from Hope Hospice and HomeInstead, especially Debra, Lisa, and Diane.

Kerry will be deeply missed by his wife Donna, children Kerry Vaughn II (Betsy), Kylie Ponder (Brent), Matthew Bryan (Ashley), his precious grandchildren Walker and Grayson Ponder, Celeste and soon to come Nova Vaughn, his siblings Amy Vaughn, Toby Vaughn (Denise), Thad Vaughn (Lori), Adam Vaughn (Susan) & Polly Vaughn; his almost 98 year old father Arlie Vaughn, his mother-in-law Frances Hamby, sister-in-law Trina Myers (Mark), brother-in-law Bill Hamby (Jackie), the mother of his children Jayna Vaughn, many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who are like family. Preceded in death by his mom Ruth Vaughn who we know was standing next to Jesus with open arms to welcome Kerry home.

Until we meet again.
