Kevin A. Lutz Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Nov. 18 to Nov. 19, 2006.
On Wednesday morning, Nov. 8, Kevin Arno Lutz died at Capitol Regional Medical Center in Tallahassee, of complications stemming from diabetes.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Aug. 23, 1964, Kevin spent his childhood in Greenlawn, Long Island, N.Y., where he graduated from Harborfields High School. He studied at the University of Bridgeport for two years and was a member of a local fraternity.
Kevin spent several years living and working in New York City, before relocating in Destin to join his family. He subsequently moved to Harbor House in Pensacola and joined Narcotics Anonymous where he began his recovery from substance abuse. After two years, he said goodbye to his Pensacola friends and moved to Tallahassee, where he worked in the hospitality industry and continued his relationship with NA, celebrating eight and a half years clean at the time of his death.
Kevin was a bright, funny, loving man with a generous nature. He shared his passion for music, books, sports and the outdoors with friends and family. In any situation, he could always be counted on to pluck the appropriate Grateful Dead lyrics from the sky and apply them poetically to the moment. He could tell a story that would bring the listener raptly to the place he was describing, even if Kevin wasn't in the original story. Always able to generate a laugh, Kevin's gifts of oratory were profound.
He is predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Dr. James Lutz and Germaine Thurm Lutz, and his maternal grandparents, Willard Byron Frogner and Helen McKenny Frogner.
He will be missed by his sister, Helen Lutz Mitchell, her husband, Jonathan, and baby, Brian Willard ,who reside in Santa Rosa Beach; Kevin's parents, Arno John and Mary Frogner Lutz (also of Santa Rosa Beach) celebrate the life of their dear boy.
Other family are Kevin's maternal aunt, Helen "Judy" Sivigny, her husband Jack and their children, John, Julie and Michael. Paternal relatives are Germaine Lutz Hinkle and her son, James; James Robert Lutz and his children Mark, Cindy, Kristin and Beth. Additionally, Kevin leaves a loving extended family of friends.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Kevin's name to one of his favorite places: the Tallahassee Museum of History and Natural Science at 3945 Museum Drive, Tallahassee, FL 32310.
A memorial Mass of the Faithful is planned for 4 p.m. on Dec. 2 at St. Rita's Catholic Church, in Santa Rosa Beach, on Moll Drive, followed by a reception at the family's home.
"Lay down my dear brother, lay down and take your rest,
"Won't you lay your head upon your Savior's chest, I love you all, but Jesus loves you the best,
"And we bid you goodnight, goodnight, goodnight
"And We Bid You Goodnight." recorded by Grateful Dead, 11/10/69, album "Live Dead."
